I have a Hamer Velocity Bass for sale. My Luthier thinks this is an unusual piece because of a few things.
There are no markings or identification of any kind other than the "Hamer" on the headstock. No serial number or place where one would have been, no place of manufacture, just nothing. The only thing it has is a shallow "used" stamped in the back of the headstock near the very end.
It looks as though it was professionally shielded, possibly factory, and while it has a battery box for active electronics it appears as though there never was any routing from said box to the control cavity.
The neck is 5 piece bubinga and maple. The body has a couple minor dings on the back and nothing on the front that I can see. It does a very good Jazz bass growl with an added deepness I find quite enjoyable. The action is VERY low with no buzz. The strings are relatively old but still sound good. The fretboard is either very dark rosewood or it is ebony, not sure. The body is small and is contoured well but it is heavy for its size.
This bass and two others are up for sale to raise money for a local school that had instruments stolen and the parents nor school can afford to replace them so my gf and I have been doing so along with a new guitar amp and the bass amp and guitars these are funding. Since the others have not sold yet I am adding this one that I am very fond of, hope you are too.
The pots are good, there is some noise if the cable is bumped but nothing else I can find wrong with it.
And no it does not have a hard case, that is the case my TRB-5 lives in. It will ship in a gig-bag.

The Velocity new "modern jazz" models were made when Samick bought Hamer... Probably the neck was replaced for an older one from the golden era of US made instruments, but I can't asure that. Anyway, looks nice! |

The shipping to Alaska will be kind of high. If you CAN take 350 for it I will not want UPS delivery! Too insane much for shipping. I would want Priorty Mail insured from the Post Office ,. Much cheaper than UPS. Let me know, man. Jay jayl@mtaonline.net |
