FS: Ibanez Artcore w/Darkstar!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm selling my Ibanez Artcore hollowbody bass, model # ASB140-BS-12-01. It has a factory Darkstar pickup in it. I hate to see it go, but I'm not using it. Comes with the original hardshell case, which is in excellent condition. The bass is in practically brand new condition. $475.00 shipped within CONUS, and Paypal is OK. The link to pix is below.

Thanks! Hit me up with what u got. I'm really needing a powerful stereo power amp, like a QSC PLX series, but I'll consider other stuff.

This bass has a factory-installed Dark Star pickup, which is a reissue (and improved version) of the Hagstrom pickup from the 60's. It's known for it's wide and even frequency response. From what I understand, Ibanez made a limited number of these basses.

Interesting. Never even knew that was an option. Is it the same Chinese made bass, only with the Darkstar, or is it some sort of custom shop deal?

It's made in China, so I assume that everything's the same except for the pickup. Btw, I also have the manual and hang tags.

Nice bass. I have one of the stock versions. The Darkstar pickup is not a factory option but was done after purchase. No matter. It's a nice clean job. There should be quite a difference in tone over the Ibanez humbucking pickup. These basses sound very nice with Thomastic flatwounds if that's your preference. Completely different with roundwounds. Almost a Stingrayish sound. The Darkstar would add a completely different dimension. That's a fairly expensive upgrade that's been done.

How does your tone control work? Like a normal passive treble cut? On mine it does very little. It wouldn't be much to get it rewired to work the way most other basses do.

I have one also and it is the voice of God! It is well worth what you're asking. I would imagine the "factory installed" refers to the Hammon factory rather than the Ibanez factory.
