FS: Kawai KRB. Flamed koa body, carbon-fiber neck, and case. GORGEOUS
This one breaks my heart to sell. It's a Kawai KRB-105
bass. Made in Japan. It's got an absolutely stunning flamed koa body
. Not just a flamed koa top...but solid block of flamed koa. Carbon fiber neck
with a subtle (but visible) weave.
This is the one I jokingly call my "poor-man's Fodera Monarch." The electronics have been swapped out for EMG
P-J pickups and 2-band EQ. Strings are Fodera Vic Wooten sig nickel-rounds. Super low action and very responsive. The sound is deep and round. Very even, balanced tone.
Schaller bridge, tuners, and strap-locks:
Phenomenal grain in the body:
Visible carbon weave in the neck:
Comes with Tolex case. The case is designed for a Pedulla Raptor, but the Kawai fits perfectly.
Asking $575 shipped
anywhere in continental USA. This is on the higher side for a Kawai bass, but this one is worth it. You'll never see koa with flame like this. The neck is a dream. The playability and tone are nonpareil. And the upgraded EMG electronics and case sweeten the deal.

These are drastically underrated basses. I had one with EMGs as well and it was one of the finest sounding and playing instruments I've ever had. Man, do I wish I could pull the trigger. That koa is insane.

Sent a few non-motorsports questions about your bass guitar.

Would you happen to have any sound clips? I must say, sir, that you have given me some very serious GAS.

Congrats to whomever pulled the trigger. Nice photo by the way ! All those little dings and dents make NO difference to me. It's MOJO and tells a story ; It's what gives a used bass it's soul. The "kids today" (Gosh I'm only 44 but I sound like an old man) want all their gear to be perfect so they can sit in their room and never let the bass or amp see a stage. They are missing the whole point !! :bassist:

I've had tons of interest, but I'm pulling this off the market for now.
There seems to be a problem with the wiring: the battery drains too quickly.
I'm not comfortable selling an instrument that isn't 100% functional.
I'm taking it to a luthier to get it sorted before selling.
Thanks for your time and interest.

Are you in Manhattan, NY or Manhattan, KS? I loaned my KRB to a guy named Dwayne in Manhattan,KS over 20 years ago and both he and the bass disappeared. I had just done an EMG swap before he swiped it. How did you come across yours if I might ask? Not accusing you of ANYTHING, mind you, just looks very familiar.
