I'm strictly a fretted player, my earlier dabbling with the fretless left me in no doubt that I couldn't live with the microtonal inaccuracies that my crap left-hand fingering would produce on consistant basis.

Thanks man for the advice on nailing the tone, it’s a great insight into how one can go about it. For the son of a master carpenter, I know very little about woods & tone. All I know is that I definitely have an aversion to Maple tops and the sound of Maple fret boards, but then there was that "Anthony Jackson Presentation" that had a curly Maple top, boy that looked stunning. On the subject of Fodera's I'd like to hear Matt's new bass (with acoustic chamber) and the Pontif has a new build in the works that should be interesting (totally new body shape + a movable pick-up).
I don't have any of Matt's CD's, they've been on the shopping list for some time, and in fact it's been a while since I've bought any new music so I'm looking forward to spinning the rta CD & checking out Warren's productions, I so enjoy well engineered mixes.
I'm going to PM the Picard with a large note of thanks.
Rich, be good and thanks again.

to see these and some more of the photos in their full size glory. | You can link to full sized pics by wrapping the URL in IMG tags (IMG at the beginning in brackets, /IMG at the end). GLWS.
Normally on Photobucket there's a dropdown with different links, one of which is IMG code. That automatically does what I described above and all you have to do is cut a paste but on yours it's saying IMG thumb and it's wrapped in "URL". Never seen that before.

We played a gig last last year in Umea, Sweden that was recorded for a live radio broadcast. I don't know how long this will be up, but you can listen to the gig here.
The band is called Samdhi. Look for the album to be released soon.
Samdhi
Rudresh Mahanthappa - alto sax and electronics
David Gilmore - guitar
Damion Reid - drums
rb - bass
enjoy! |

enjoy! | THAT is one hell of a band! Thanks Rich. I look forward to checking out the album when it's out.
edit: DAMN! Rudresh is such a BEAST!!!! I'm dying to hear him with Jack Dejohnette's new band.
edit part deux: That first tune brings me back to hearing Pachora for the first time.....Rich, beautiful opening to the second tune. I hear Africa and Bach in there...perfect.
Ok...sorry for the massive derail.....good luck with selling this beautiful bass.
