FS: Ken Smith BSR5P

I really don't want to this, but I am putting my Ken Smith BSR5P (Avodire top, ebony fretboard) up for sale. The BSR5P is from August 2011 and it is still like new/MINT.

Price is $2850 and we can discuss shipping if you are interested.

I also have my Sadowsky up for sale. I am only planning on selling one, so once that happens, the other will be removed. Also, I reserve the right to remove this bass listing if I decide not to sell.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

That's a nice looking bass!!! Is there much tonal difference with the avodire top compared to, say, walnut or maple?

Smith

I have only played one other Smith bass that had a maple top. This current Smith is very "burpy," more than the maple Ken Smith that I owned. And, this bass, seems to be a little brighter. I like the sound of this avodire bass more than the maple one that I owned. One other thing, the switches on this bass really open up the sound. My last Smith just had a little more compact of a sound than I was looking for; this one is more open. But, I think that is attributed more to the electronics. Plus, the top looks great under the lights. It has an iridescent quality to it.

Thanks,
Eric

How would you describe the B string? Even the good ones rarely completely match the other ones (pitch focus, tonal clarity), huh? But is it close?

This is the standard Smith spacing, not the Wide option, right?

Thanks.

This is the standard Smith spacing.

As for the B-string, this bass has an extremely tight B-string. I have played several basses, including one older Smith, that seem to have floppy B-string. The B-string on this Smith is very exact and one can hear the note extremely well. Some people describe the low B string as a note that one feels as opposed to a note that one hears. Here, I can hear the note, as well as feel it. I also commonly play on the B string in different positions and all of the notes are exact and clear. I hope all of this makes sense.

I have some interesting trade offers. I would be interested in trading the Smith if I could net some cash. Send me some offers.

I would mainly be interested in:
Roscoe
Sadowsky (especially PJ's)
Valenti
etc.

I would also be interested in singlecuts and anything with a buckeye top!

Let me know what you got!
