FS:Lakland 5501 with Upgrades USA MK5's, NTMB 8.9 lbs!
Up for sale is my 2011 Lakland Skyline 55-01 with USA Bartolini MK5CBC classic bass series soapbar pickups, a Bartolini USA NTMB preamp with push pull midrange frequency selector, coil selector switch for inner or outer single coils, hipshot string ferrules (replacing cheap imported ones), Lakland Nickel roundwound strings and the new style Lakland knobs. In addition, the bass weighs a comfortable 8.9 lbs on my shipping scale, is well balanced and very comfortable to play.
Neck has the Plek treatment and is straight and plays easily with great action that is adjustable to any style. The exact size replacement pickups fit perfectly unlike others that leave a large gap around the pickup. The coil switches give a Jazz bass like sound with great bottom and clean highs by selecting the outer single coils then a more full sound with great mids, using the inner single coils. In the neutral position all coils are on for both soapbars and coils are wired in series for amazing output. I have the gain set pretty low because the output is very high, but can easily be adjusted using the internal trim pot. The USA made classic bass pickups are a huge upgrade giving greater dynamic range and they work well with the Bartolini USA NTMB preamp allowing you to get a wide variety of tones together with the mid shift push-pull (I believe the mid frequency shift points are 250 or 800hz selectable by push-pull on mid selector)..
Of course there is also a push pull for active passive and the passive sound of this bass with these pickups is fabulous and sounds great played directly with all coils on using no battery or preamp. Neck has graphite support rods and a compound radius. I paid almost $1400 with professionally installed upgrades and will include a gig bag. Selling for $900 $799 plus shipping so just email for quote. Shipping to lower 48 conus only.
No hum - the inner and outer single coil modes are also Hum-cancelling and super-quiet. I will include the bartolini two page wiring diagrams showing lots of different combinations. The Bart preamps have a grounding ring that runs to each pot and is grounded to the jack making their electronics super-quiet, even in the single coil modes. I've always had good luck with Bartolini pickups and my tech was very impressed with the dyanmic range and quiet operation. You can solo each of the four coils individually using the coil selector and the pickup pan knob.
