FS: Lakland DudePit Limited Edition II Bob Glaub with DarkStar Pickup - RARE

Sign in to disble this ad
This is 1 of only 30 DudePit Limited Edition II DPLEII Bob Glaub signature basses equipped with the amazing Hammond DarkStar pickups.

The finish is a beautiful Olympic White with matching headstock, and the neck is a jazz taper with a rosewood fingrerboad, binding and pearloid block inlays.

The build quality, fit, finish, playability and sound are all great. I'm just not playing anymore.

I'm asking $1350 shipped in a hardcase to the CONUS.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks. I think so too. The looks are killer... and them you plug it in and the real "wow" happens. The hype about the DarkStar is true.

It's a 1.5" jazz taper neck, very comfy.

Weight is about 10 lbs. It's not a light bass, but it is still comfortable on a wide strap... and there is no neck dive. .

I'll throw in a nice wide Levys strap with the bass too.

Very nice...out of curiosity, wouldn't that bass technically be a Duck Dunn with a Darkstar? I have always been under the impression that a P body, with a bound/blocked Jazz profile neck and matching HS was the Duck Dunn model.

Any possibility of trades? Not necessarily bass stuff as you stated you haven't been playing lately.

That's what I thought but was corrected. I don't know if there are any other differences, but this does have the Duck Dunn neck which is awesome. I'm by no means a Lakland expert, maybe one of the avid LOG guys can enlighten us as to the details/differences.

I'm not 100% opposed to other trades, shoot me a PM with what you had in mind. Primarily I'd be looking for a Canon 5D Mark II or MacBook Pro.

This was the second Dudepit limited edition bass that Lakland built. It was built somewhere around 2006, before they had actually introduced the Duck Dunn signature bass. This was somewhat of a inspiration for the Duck Dunn, we designed it on the board and eventually had Lakland build us 30. I was an original owner of one of the 30 and they're great basses.

Thanks Dave, that explains it well. It really is a great instrument and you all did a heck of a job on the design!

Thank-you for listing this after I purchased a Fender P from another felllow TBer on Friday. Otherwise, I would have been forced to spend even more money than I should!

Good luck with the sale, even though you won't need it. These are awesome.

This IS a rare bass...it was "created" by (what was at the time) one of the largest lakie dealers...he actually did 2 others (one of which was not actually a "dudepit" since he went out of business before they were manufactured....but it became the Decade Skyline in a cool mahogany with trans red finish).

these are aswesome basses...the darkstar gives them a whole different sound envelope!

snap it up someone.....if you do not like it, it will be fairly easy to flip due to the rarity!

This is pretty awesome. Is there a link to an original discussion thread on these? And is this made from US or Skyline parts?

The original discussion was on The Dude Pit forum which is no longer around.

This was a Skyline offering (Korean I believe), but it is of very fine quality and fit and finish.

As an owner of 1 of the 30, I second everything that's been said about them. Really great p-style bass.

And Manfloozy is second to none in dealing with. Buy with confidence.

I also own one of these. The only advice I can offer is buy it or, if you ever get a chance to play one you'll wish you had.

It's really cool, and I dig the Darkstar tone... coupled with the aesthetics of this run, and the quality of the Lakland, it is a fine bass indeed. Thanks for the info and your kind words.

The Dude! I'm honored. I think the only question I haven't been able to answer with certainty yet is whether the body is Ash or Alder. Thanks for dropping in the thread and offering your assistance, I appreciate it!

Thanks. If I thought I'd be playing again much anytime soon I'd be hanging on to this one. They're pretty awesome.
