Due to a need to seriously downsize my gear list, I'm forced to sell this bass, which I really love. In my opinion, Lakland necks are the best in the business and the tone is massive. This is easily one of the best P basses I've ever played.

Overall the condition is great with a few small dings here and there on the body and some swirling on the pickguard. The back of the neck is flawless as are the frets. Also, the back of the headstock has been signed by Dan Lakin - kinda cool!

The bass has been upgraded to a universal route, which allows the pickups to be configured in reverse or standard (which they are in now), allowing for slightly different tones out of the Hanson pickups. Includes the original chrome pickup cover. Will ship in a well-packed Levy's/Lakland gig bag.

$1900 shipped to CONUS. Paypal only. No trades.

Thanks! It is a looker. And I've always thought it would look even better with a pearl pickguard, but I haven't gotten around to having one made for it.

Beautiful DD.

Do you know if the body is Alder or Ash? Also, who did the pickup routing? Was it a post-build mod, or was it done at the time the bass was made?

Thanks,

Jim

I don't know when the routing was done - it is very well-done, however. Here's what the previous owner wrote in the listing:

"This was a custom build by the factory with amazing abalone block inlays. Rosewood board with white binding and the neck is Jazz width (1.5" wide). The body finish is gloss black finish and is in great condition with just a couple of tiny, shallow dings on the front and a few really minor scrapes on the sides and back. The pickup is a Hanson NeoPunch and sounds great. The bass has some routing under the pickguard, the pickup is standard stagger now but can be reversed if you want to. The original owner says it was done before he got it personally from Dan Lakin. Signed by Dan Lakin on the back of the headstock. Weight is fairly light at 8.8 lbs."

Hope this helps.

This is a wonderful bass, the tone is really great and the abalone inlays are stunning. If it was 1.75" wide at the nut I'd still have it.

If that was signed by Donald Dunn I would take it!
But seriously that looks to be a fantastic bass that I would love to have as my own!
