Major home repairs, and an unjustifiable proliferation of basses are leading me to thin the herd a bit more. This means parting with some basses which I really like, but such things happen. Up for grabs here is a really nice semi-hollowbody Bud LeCompte CBSC-4. This bass was reviewed along with a "matching" VB-5 in Bass Gear Magazine #6
. It has a mahogany body, walnut tone stripe, and a killer koa top. The neck is maple, bubinga, and wenge, and the fingerboard is flamed maple with ebony binding (and an inlaid ebony "pickguard"). It has two Darkstar pickups (wired vol/vol) and a passive tone. Weight is 8.55 lbs.
The price as tested on this bass was $3,445, and it's in mint condition. It comes with a LeCompte branded gig bag (nothing too fancy, though) and a copy of BGM
#6. If I were to sell this, I'd want $2,500, shipped (lower 48). Please note that Bud has raised his prices since this bass was purchased, and it would cost a lot more to spec this bass out, new.
Outright sale preferred, but partial trade deals would be considered.
I reserve the right to come to my senses and keep this bass...
