This is another one that really hurts to sell. But I need to cut down dramatically on the number of basses cluttering the apartment; I can't justify having more than one fretless 5er in the arsenal right now.
Here's a Leduc U.Bass with lightweight swamp ash body, floating spruce top, 3-piece maple neck, and lined ebony fingerboard. According to Christophe Leduc, this is one of about twenty U.Basses that were hand-built in Japan by Seinosuke Sano under license. They retailed for over $2000 new in the early '90s.
It features the "floating" top that Leduc U.Basses are famous for. Essentially a hybrid solidbody/acoustic bass, the ash body is hollowed out and the bridge rests on a floating spruce top that's braced like an acoustic. It gives you an URB-like tone: very warm and "woody." The LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass nylon tapewound strings really add to the URB tone.
Does it come with the matching rug in the first pic?
What a beautiful creation! I'll add this one high on the list of things I lust for and cannot have right now. But honestly, I'm thankful I'm not in any position to even entertain this for a second, otherwise the gas pressure would likely cause me to rupture a seal!
