FS - Lotus Headless Bass, Steinberger licensed

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is a lotus headless bass, licensed by Steinberger. Trans Red finish, with P/J style EMG Pickups. Comes with a pelican case (about $200 new), about 30 strings of various sizes and manufacturers, all roundwound.

So, the bass was produced in the mid-80s, as far as I've been able to tell. Has been well played by myself and those before me. It's pretty beat up, finish dings all over it. Doesn't look like any are through the finish, and the biggest concentration is in the back. Neck plays well, no damage to the neck that effects play. Action is a solid medium, but I've never tried to get it any lower. Sounds great with the EMGs, plays great. No issues other than cosmetic.

I'm looking for 500 shipped CONUS. Price negotiable.
Would do 400 shipped without the pelican case.
Paypal greatly preferred.

Would do trades, but you'll really have to tickle my fancy. I'm looking to pick up an Acme Low B-4, 8 ohm. Feel free to run anything by me, especially any fender style bass with a natural or wood binding, but I'd much prefer money.

I'll post pictures of the dings when I get a chance.

Okay, I lied. There's two dings that are in the wood, and one that sort of just smashed it's way through the finish. All are pictured, and captured as well as possible in the next few posts.

Also, forgot to mention, I had to rout the control cavity a bit larger, and make a cover for it, to accommodate for active pickups.

Cool looking bass - are those the original knobs, or wood replacements?

Wood replacements. Didn't have any knobs when I got it. I think I'm overplaying the damage, these pictures make it look terrible. It's been well played, but nothing excessive for a 30 year old bass.

Send me offers! Trades or otherwise. Will happily take more pictures on request.

You can't tell me no one's interested in this oddity?

Getting almost no interest on this guy. If I'm over charging, offer what you think is reasonable. All offers entertained. Kind of surprised no one wants such a light, easy to play bass.

Bump, fools.

I'd be interested but don't have the money for it. And my girlfriend will kill me if I bought another bass. But have a bump!

250 Shipped without the case, or with the case local pickup. 225 + shipping with the case. Not leaving myself much room for barters, so don't expect to push me much lower than this.

Bump! 250 shipped is the best you'll get on this bass. Comes with EMGs, a hundred dollars alone!

Still here. Make an offer. Might be willing to pass it off cheap for local pickup

I think the probelm is that these go from only $100-$200 in better shape than this.
All the best!

I suppose I could just take the EMGs out and sell it for 100. I'd probably get more just selling the Steinberger tuning system and the EMGs seperately, and use the rest for firewood. It's a shame, though. It's a great bass. Cheap, sure, but light, a great player, plenty of mojo, and I'd hate to see it dismantled.

You say it "goes" for less, but despite all my looking, I can't find a single one beside my own on the market. I look at it's individual values, and not it's "market price" and I come out at significantly more than 250. If someone thinks it's worth much less then that, send me an offer. Otherwise, thanks for the bump.
