LET-bird in Burnt Orange NOT RED... Cocobola finger board on 3 pc maple set-neck in Mahogany body. 8 string Octave. a couple of small bb sized nicks but in new cond besides that. Plays amazing and has more of a bronze tint that doesnt show in pics, looks redder than it is for some reason. Set up AWESOME..ive had hamers and waterstones that seem to be buzzy and dead in spots but this thing is perfect. Pick ups are passive and have stacked volumes and a master tone that effects both pick ups. the switches are for parrallel or series on each humbucker. amazing detail and another great masterpeice by brian at lowend.. If someone will buy this this weekend, ill throw in 6 sets of SIT 8str bass strings ($150 at least) Comes with an expensive MONO case/hard bag that is extremely protective
$2200 delivered in the states.

| | Registered Schmoozer. | | | | | How is it to play fingerstyle, as opposed to a pick -- can you get around it quickly and get a nice balance between the octaves?
Can you adjust the "balance" between the octave strings very easily with your right hand attack?
How's the balance on a strap?
And (sacrilige) can you slap it and hear the octaves, or do you just get the lower string?
I very briefly played a cheap Hamer 8 string in a store. It was work to play, but loads of fun. My only 8 string experience, but intriguing.
This last question is subjective: do you find the 8 string thing to be more of an effect, or something you can use in the context of a "normal" four string tune without it being weird or obtrusive?
Nice looking bass, btw. The first Thunderbird I've seen that I've really wanted to play.
-Mark
PS Can you get a closeup of the bridge? |

PS Can you get a closeup of the bridge? | 1.fingerstyle works better on an 8 as opposed to 12 but pick is more accurate attack and consistent strike of string.
2. It's like any tbird, it's a little neck heavy but the balance is better on this due to keys and strap placement, not a deal breaker IMO...
3.slapping sounds really cool on this because of the harmonics produced. Sounds like a synth bass with right attack. Most 8 players like a little OD to give it a full spectrum sound. Covers a lot of space-
4.its not and never will replace your 4 string. It has a place in certain songs and not in others. That's up to you to decide. My guitarist loves it because it just fills the void during solos, especially witha hint of OD. Tends to effect the higher octaves but warms the low.
5. If you struggled on a Hamer, this will be less work because of set up, gauge and tonal qualities.

I wouldn't say I struggled on the Hamer -- I had a blast playing it -- it was just noticeably more work than my 4 string. Setup could have been an issue. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
