FS: Marleaux Consat Sopran Short Scale Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is a Marleaux Consat Sopran. For those of you who don't know about these little gems, they are handmade by Marleaux and include the same level of workmanship as that goes into all the other Marleaux basses.

This bass has a 25" scale and is tuned one-octave higher, however this does NOT play like a guitar. This is truly still a bass. Anyone who's ever tried this at our GTGs gets addicted to the playability and portability. It is a huge blast to play, not to mention it is the perfect travel companion.

Along with the bass, you'll get a custom-made leather case made by Glenn Cronkrite.

New, these are going for $4,200, but I'm letting this one go for just $2,600 $2500 shipped anywhere in the CONUS. International buyers, please PM me for details on shipping outside the US.

Marleaux Consat Sopran Short Scale Bass
  • 25" Scale
  • 3 piece maple neck - 4-String - separated with Wenge.
  • 6 point bolt-on
  • matching headstock
  • ebony fretboard with 24 frets, 57 cm scale.
  • 2 piece body with Quilted Maple top, and ergonomic shape
    wooden electronic cavity cover
  • Delano pickup
  • Custom Cronkrite Leather Case

Here are some YouTube videos of this model and this exact bass: marleaux sopran - YouTube

That's a really intriguing bass. A 2k + bass is not in the cards for me right now, but I can certainly admire it!

Just curious, what kind of strings does this use and what does it tune to?

I use standard nickels .065-.045-.032-.023. It's tuned EADG only one octave higher.

I take it these are the gauges of "standard" guitar strings, not bass string, correct, given it's guitar scale length?

I played a couple of these at the 2010 NAMM show, very cool "basses".

Any more photos?

I use bass strings. The E, A and D would be from a standard set.
