John Kallas built this wonderful custom 66' Fender Jazz Replica for me in August 2009. This custom bass replicates the original 66'-67' Fender Jazz Bass. The only difference with mine is: I did not want the ash tray covers or the thumb rest, so there are no holes drilled. Also, I asked John to use clover-leaf tuners instead of the lollipop tuners that were used on the 66' jazz basses. I prefer the look of the clovers.
- It is in fantastic condition.
- Nitro Sunburst finish
- Nitro finished hand shaped neck
- Blocks and binding
- Seymour Duncan vintage Jazz Bass pickups (SJ1-b and SJ1-n) they sound exactly like the originals
- Fender Reissue CTS solid shaft 250K pots
- Switchcraft jack using vintage cloth covered wire
- NOS Cornell-Dubilier .047 capacitor for the tone control that John purchased years ago from Fender's surplus stock when they moved from Fullerton, CA.
- Weighs 9.2lbs
The action is nice and low and the playability is simply awesome!
I encourage you to take a look at John's website and read the attached PDF for a description of his build process. It will help you understand why John is a great Master builder and why this is a fantastic bass.
