FS: Matsumoku Aria Pro II CSB-380 Cardinal/Club Bass

For sale is one of my Aria CSB-380 basses. After selling off a few from my collection over the past year, I still have some duplicates of these old Aria Cardinals and since my GAS is not getting any better, this one is now up for grabs too.

This is the same model bass as played by Kim Deal of the Pixies (i have also read that she played the CSB-300). Medium scale at 820mm or just over 32 inches (32.25 I believe!), one very hot hum cancelling Aria pickup, volume and tone. Made in Japan at the legendary Matsumoku factory. This one is a 1981.

Finish is a transparent blue and features the heavy varnish you would expect on a fine Japanese made Matsumoku instrument.

The bass sounds great and plays beautifully. It does have lots of mojo with scratches and some dulling on the finish from hard use. Finish wear, dings and slight oxidation on the pickup pole pieces (been coming off with my fingernail) are pictured. Neck is in great shape as is the fingerboard so the wear is relegated to the body and is only superficial—it does not affect the playability of the bass in any way.

These basses are absolutely a blast to play. They are light, easy to play, well balanced, and they absolutely get you that Duran Duran tone (think the first album) if you want it as the pickup is the same as the one on the SB600 and SB700 save for it is not sealed.

And if you want to hear this model in action listen to "Gigantic" by the Pixies!

I am asking $225 for this bass shipped without a case to anywhere in the CONUS. Outside the CONUS the price is higher as shipping will cost considerably more so PM me first.

Thanks for looking and feel free to reply or PM with any questions.
