FS: Matsumoku Vantage VS695B Trans Black

PRICE DROP TO $SOLD SHIPPED OBO!

For sale is a Vantage VS695B. This is Vantage's full scale precision style bass made in Japan at the legendary Matsumoku factory.

As with all basses made by Uncle Matt in the heyday, this thing is top quality from top to bottom. Great woods and craftsmanship. This bass is a full scale.

This is a very beautiful precision style bass. For those not familiar, these basses were mass marketed during Fender's "Dark Years" (the early 80’s) when many people associated Fender with poor quality control and an "antiquated" mass-marketed design. I remember it seemed that all Fender owners did in those days was replace parts-- pickups first, then pots, then bridges, etc. I remember my first teacher so well- he had a Fender P bass with almost every single part replaced!

This bass puts a different spin on the P bass. Similar tone but more "boutique" sounding due to the high quality wood and finish, and of course with the classical looks and panache that come with! The factory precision style pickups in this bass were modeled after DiMarzios which were the premium and preferred pickup of choice in those days and what most Fender players were swapping for.

My favorite feature on these basses is they they have a very interesting bolt on neck pocket design resembles a set neck more than a traditional bolt-on. Put flats on this (as I have on some of my other Vantages including this one and it thumps.

This one has some surface dings as pictured but nothing too major and the finish is in great shape. The lighting in my office where i took these snaps was pretty funky so you see a lot of reflection from fluorescent lighting, especially on the pictures of the sides. These are not dings, just bad lighting reflection

There is some kind of strap lock system installed that uses buttons. Only real issue is that the rout for the jack somehow got enlarged so it has been covered with a washer. A smaller washer in black or wood stained black to match the bass would be hardly noticeable and look a lot better than what is on there now.

Given the issue with the jack routing and slight wear, this bass is priced accordingly at an ask of $SOLD shipped conus. Please feel to PM with any questions or best offers.

Pics below. Thanks for looking.

Bump for offers. Don't let the washer fool you. It's way too big. A tiny black one will suffice. If I can locate on I will slap it on the bass and upload pics.

This is bass is a thumping machine and representative of top Matsumoku build quality.

A Happy Thanksgiving bump! Will accept best offers. Also considering trades. A clean MIM P or J bass might do me right. So would a cool semi hollow if you have one.

Bump. I also had a couple of PMs from spec hounds so just to let everyone know nut width is 1.5" and weight is somewhere in the 8.5 range (no scale in the office but it is light).

Thanks.

Bump for a Matsumoku Fender Precision killer. This thing has tone for days, plays great and is built like a tank.

To the top for best offers.
