SOLD ON EBAY
FS, an awesome MPG Level 5 fretless.
Click here for many large detail closeup pics. The fingerboard is the most gorgeous birdseye I've seen in a while. It was professionally de-fretted, with a smooth hard clearcoat. Very smooth feel. I'm not sure of the body wood, maybe swamp ash? 34" scale, with a super strong, taut low B. Easily as good as the low B's on the Roscoe and Sadowsky I used to own. Strung with TI Jazz flats, and they are a great tone/feel match for this bass IMO. 19mm spacing at the bridge, 1.75" nut width.
The neck profile is somewhat deep, not at all a "baseball bat", but a nice hand-filling profile with a shallow radius at the sides where your thumb goes. Super comfortable. The back of the neck is not lacquered, it is either bare maple or a
very light matte clearcoat. The weight is 8.5 lbs, and it balances perfectly with that long top horn. The pups are Bart soapbars, I'm not sure which model; the controls are V/V/T plus a series/parallel switch, and it has a Creation Audio Redeemer preamp/buffer installed. The cavity is well-shielded, and this bass picks up
zero noise or hum. Perfect for recording.
The tone is very woody, with deep fundamentals and dry clear top end. It's in
great condition! Check out the detail pics to see. There are minor swirls and light surface scuffs in the finish if you look very closely, but no dings or scratches that I can find. The back of the maple neck has a few shadow smudges that could stand to be cleaned off, but I'm not sure of the best cleaning method.
Asking $835 shipped in the CONUS
with a deluxe SKB hard case. I will pack this bass super carefully, with plenty of bubble wrap in a good box, and ship it insured. Let me know if you have any questions!
Update: I am willing to consider partial trades where I'd get at least $300 cash on top of what you're trading. So for example I'll consider nice effects, preamps, or maybe a cheap-but-sweet P bass like one of those old JV Squiers or an early MIJ Fender, Yamaha, or Electra P (must weigh 9 lbs or less). No J's, no SX/similar
modern "budget" basses, no amps or cabs, thanks!
