FS: Mike Lull Modern M5-24 quilt top BEM fb
Hello dear Talkbass friends!
This is my first Classifieds ad ever, so I hope to do everything right :D
I have here for sale an amazing Mike Lull Modern M5-24 5-string jazz bass. I got this bass back in my days in Italy, maybe 3 years ago, from an italian friend who has an awesome collection of high end basses. I traded my previous Lull with this one (I previously had a bass like this but with rosewood fb and Bart preamp).
I do believe that my friend bought this here from a fellow TBer, so perhaps someone will recognize this baby...
I personally picked this bass from his collection out of a CS Fender V Custom Classic, another Lull 5er with 21 frets, a passive Lakland 5 USA custom shop and an F-clef 4 string. This was without any doubt my favourite and most killing bass out of all those, including the rosewood M5 I was going to trade.
This has been my main gigging bass for 3 years... a true J‐bass with 24 frets that can really do ANY jbass tone (jazz/fusion, rnb, Jaco, Marcus, etc.) cutting the mix like a blade. And the extra frets and access come really in handy for soloing.
The Audere preamp is really transparent and well voiced, I really like it more than the standard Bart (which I had in my previous Lull). For fingerstyle I love it with both pickups and the switch on the "inner" position, which gives a very musical, low mids bump to the tone.
I'm selling because I've moved from Italy to Boston (I'm doing Berklee) and I'm thinking of downgrading the basses I carried with me from Italy to have some extra money for the expenses. Said that, I have no real hurry or necessity to sell this bass so if the right buyer doesn't come I will gladly keep this killer bass.
As far as trades, I don't really need any other bass right now (I mostly use my fretless Ibanez GWB1) so I prefer cash.
Swamp ash body / quilt maple top

Audere 4‐band preamp with Z‐mode switch and passive tone: Vol‐Vol, Bass/low‐mids stack, treble hi‐mids stack (passive tone roll‐off on treble knob), Z‐mode switch
~18mm string spacing @ bridge, adjustable
Only ~ 3.9 kg/8,6 lbs
Here are the pics (iPhone quality) of this sexy lady including the dings and varoius scratches as far as I can see... thanks for looking!
Cool bass, congrats on the Berklee gig.
Thanks Jeb. Updated some info in the first post and received some interesting offers, bass still for sale.
Now reduced price to US$ 1695,00! Get a custom-made boutique jazz bass for the price of a MIA Deluxe Jazz V.
I'll take it.
That was a steal!
Giova, I used to own this bass. In fact, I sold it to your friend in Italy! :D
The original neck was damaged and Mike Lull himself built this neck - with both a better truss rod AND the plek! I also bought a new Lull gig bag when I owned it.
The Duncan/Audere combination is very versatile; with a bump in the upper mids that cuts through everything!
If I had the $ I would buy it back from you!! :(
Good luck with the sale!
SOLD and on the way to Oklahoma!
