This listing is for a Modulus Genesis Vintage Jazz 4 bass. My wife says the body color looks like condensed campbell tomato soup w/a spash of milk in it

. This one was built in 02, weighs in at 8.6lbs (bathroom scale) and ships in a generic HSC in beat to fair condition but it does what it's supposed to. The bass is in very good overall condition but is a players bass, so it has a few nicks and scratches on the body. There are a couple of nicks on the front, some near the rear strap button, a couple buckle marks on the rear of the body close to the neck and a nick just below the headstock. None of the marks affect the playability of this bass whatsoever and most are only viewable upon closer inspection. Other than that, this bass is free of any issues. The truss rod and electronics are in perfect working order. This one comes with the factory optional upgraded Villex passive pickups consisting of a vol/vol/mid/passive tone system. You could really swear that their active but they're not. I believe they were a $250 upgrade. This really is an overall great sounding and playing bass. Here's a description via Modulus...
"The Genesis bass necks incorporate a composite spine reaching from the tip of the headstock to deep inside the body. Wrapped with a solid piece of lightweight, resonant tone wood, the Genesis neck combines the best elements of carbon fiber and wood. All string tension is held by the composite central structure to eliminate warping and twisting. Because the carbon fiber is handling the stress of the strings, we’re able to use soft woods like red cedar, alder and soma to add warmth and character to the crisp attack characteristics of the composite spine. It’s the right neck for players looking for organic, woody sound with the added brilliance of composites." Here is a portion of a review of the Genesis from Music Gear Review.."
It is a colaboration between Modulus (concept & materials) and Michael Tobias (egonomics & sound quality) Together it may be the "perfect storm" of bass building. Space-age materials meets machine shop precision construction with amazing "non-graphite" tone quality wrapped up in a package that you barely even know is on your shoulder regardless of its weight. There are not many basses in any price range capable of doing this. I have many basses some of which cost 5 times more than this. I always take two instrument to a gig and this is always one of them....."
