I have decided to chase after my dream bass and put a deposit down on a Fodera. To fund the down payment I am unfortunately going to have to let go of the best bass I've ever owned. I've gone through a lot of basses over the years and this one is head and shoulders above the rest.
I have for sale a 2004 Modulus Quantum 4 with and alder body and an absolutely gorgeous flamed walnut top. This is definitely one of the nicest walnut tops I've seen. It has an alder body and the exquisite Modulus graphite neck. Unlike most of Quantums that I've seen, this bass has EMG soapbars and and Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. The bass is in great condition and has always been taken care of. There is a one inch dent on the side of the bass where it would sit on your leg when played seated. Other than that there is only some minor surface hazing and a hair-like scratch by the controls.
Don't be scared by the 35" scale. Playability on this bass is second to none. I've struggled to play some lines on my other basses, namely some John Paul Jones stuff, and I've been able to pick up this bass and play them with ease. The setup on this bass is excellent and it has a brand new set of DR nickel Lo-riders. There is absolutely zero fret buzz or any issues with bass and it does have a truss rod, although it does not need it. It stays in tune for days and the weather has no effect on the bass, which comes in very handy with the humidity difference between winter and summer. I have to say that this has the nicest neck of any basses I've played. It has a gloss finish, but it never gets sticky at all. I find the profile to be pretty much perfect for me.
The bass is capable of almost any tone imaginable. The pickups are neither harsh, nor sterile. I've been able to cop some nice vintage tones out this bass at will, especially when combined with a tube amp. The Aggie preamp matches perfectly with the EMG's to offer a virtual plethora of tones.
I absolutely love this bass and I promised myself I would never sell it, but the new Fodera Yin-Yang Standards finally put a Fodera within my reach and I'm going to try to pick one up.
Feel free to hit me up with any questions. I only have a cell phone pic right now, but I'll take some new pics and post them as soon as possible.
Price: $1399 with a hard shell case plus shipping which is an absolute steal.
