From what I know, this Q5 Sweetspot is a 1993, the first year they were made. This is a No Truss Rod bass. I just had it to my luthier. The Cocobolo Fretboard is amazing. I had a complete fret job done including a board dress and this bass plays like the wind. Finished with a set of Daddario EXL170-5 strings and she sounds a pretty as it looks. EMG P'up and 18v preamp make this one mean sounding bass. The Cocobolo fretboard really improves the tonal quality of the graphite neck as opposed to the other Quantums with a graphite board and neck. This bass I believe is the Q5W wide spacing. It is much wider than my other Modulus. Very uncomfortable for me to play. My intention was to get this beauty up and running and sell my Fender USA Deluxe V, but I just cannot get used to the string spacing.
Anyway, I don't know much more than that. This has Volume-Treble-Bass knobs on it. Seem to be original.. I have to get $1300 shipped. I do have a case, not Modulus, but hard shell none the less.
There are 2 issues with this bass. 1) as you can see by one of the pictures there is some wear through the paint just in front of the pickup. 2) The tuner for the G-string was very damaged from someone overtightening the nut, so I had to replace it with a Gotoh Tuner. It matched 100%. I will include the original Modulus tuner. The only difference between the original and the replacement is the dust cover on the back of the tuner. Again, I will include the original factory tuner.
