I bought this neck directly from Moses a few years ago when building a new fretless 6-string. I picked soft woods for the bass body (Alder body with Redwood Burl top, Wenge sandwiched between) due to my previous experiences with graphite/graphite composites. Graphite necks tended to be bright and harsh, so I wanted the soft body woods to warm up the tone. To my surprise, the Moses neck sounded very woody and natural...a bit too dark with the body woods that I had picked. So after playing it for a few months, I decided to go with a different neck with harder woods to brighten up the tone a bit.

I was then going to build another bass body that would match the tone of the Moses neck in the future. Well, that just hasn't happened and it's time to let this go to someone else who can make good use of it.

The neck itself has never given me any problems and is straight and true. The dual truss rods work well, and the feel of the neck is nice. The slim, oval shape reminds me of a MusicMan neck, but in a 6-string form. There is one small blemish on the bass side of the 23rd fret marker that happened when Moses had the neck and body at their factory to properly fit the neck pocket. It does not affect playing and is between the strings. It is not that noticeable...you really have to look for it. (See pics...)

I did include a pic of my bass that Moses now uses on their website. The pic is with one of their fretted necks on my bass.

I had a Moses graphite fretless neck, and I was SHOCKED at how warm and woody it sounded...like, not just "warm for a graphite neck," but actually WARM. They make great stuff.

Agreed. I've played a few basses with Moses necks and they all sound a lot closer to a real wood neck than a Modulus does.

By the way, this probably belongs in the accessories section, not the basses section.
