I am selling my MTD Kingston that has been retrofitted with a Bartolini NTBT preamp and a Bartolini MMC pickup. I have played a bunch of these basses and this one has the most amazing neck of all of them. It actually has one of the best necks I have ever played. Action can be slammed to the board with no buzzing at all. Sounds amazing with the new pre and pickup. Has a few nicks and scratches.
$325 plus shipping or might be interested in a Pbass. No other trades please.

Paypal only. Continental USA only. Thanks!

Yeah, these are solid basses with the best necks i've ever seen on budget instruments. With the Bart upgrades, it is amazing.

I would argue that based on comfort alone these necks rival any neck, regardless of price point. Also very stable necks....i used one for a year of gigging...i always use HEAVY gauge and it rarely budged in a climate (South Korea) with dramatic humidity changes.

Also these basses look classy and can fit any situation. My piano player ofter commented that my MTD was an exceptionally 'in tune' bass whereever I played it on the neck.

No experience with a Bart loaded one....I can only imagine it is VERY nice. Lotta bass here for someone at this cost. Also i would say these basses are less strident tonewise than many bridge bucker only basses, I imagine with the barts it could be capable of very polite tones in addition to the funky stuff.

Cheers
Adam

Yep, I agree Adam. Also, Barts are Michael Tobias' first choice on his top level MTDs. These are not import Barts, either. The necks and fretwork on these are unbelievable. If it doesn't sell here I will probably pull the Bart pre and pup and sell it stock on ebay.... This one has mojo and it would be a shame to pull it apart....

thats true isn't it.....he does rawk Barts on all his high end gear.

to be honest I actually like this generation of Kingstons better than the Kingston Zs I have played, despite the huge difference in intended market and price point. I also thought this bass did what it was intended to better than the Heirs and Artists....just my humble opinion of course....

I did some searching, but couldn't come up with much. The bart pu/pre is active with bass and treble control right?

I know this is totally subjective, but can you describe the sound?

Can it growl like this?

I would say that the bass has a little more mid content than what I have heard from the US MTDs, but has a very versitile tone. The pre can get you from a good old school thump to a biting slap tone. This is perhaps the easiest bass I have played to slap on. It isn't really necessary in my playing much, so I am looking for a P bass...

These are defintely middy basses ( uber MM) , but with the pickup and pre, this one is properly modded. I found by rolling up a little high and a little low, the mid bump flattens out nicely.

I dont beleive there are any better necks out there a this price point, but I speak of the 5'er specifically.
BUMP!

It is a bass/treble stack. I am working up a soundclip. Stay tuned!

I'm pretty interested in this bass. I already have my P bass thump covered, but sometimes I need something that can really growl like in that DMB clip. I play in a band with a singer/songwriter who styles himself after Dave Matthews Band, so there are songs where I wish I could get that growl that Stefan has in that clip.
