FS: MTD Kingston 5 w/ Bartolini pu, 2-band EQ - $350 shipped

Sign in to disble this ad
Received this bass as part of a local trade and selling to finance some other gear. MTD Kingston 5 string, details below:

9 lbs
35” scale length
Buzz Feiten tuning system
19mm string spacing at the bridge
Basswood body (assuming is like the other budget MTDs)
Maple neck/board, 24 frets
Die cast closed gear black tuners
Die cast, vintage style, black bridge
Bartolini humbucker pickup
Volume - tone knob configuration w/ 2 band (treble/bass) EQ

This is a well-played bass, so it certainly has some wear in spots, but overall, it's still in quite good condition. Most noticeable marks are a buckle scratch on the back of the bass, approx 3/4" long, some nail marks on the B-string edge of the neck, and a couple of (I assume) ring marks on the back of the neck. Also a small rut on the fingerboard between the 3rd & 4th fret, but nothing that you feel at all while playing, or anything that affects intonation.

Plugged in, this bass smokes (and I don't usually use Chain-Music-Store-Employee terminology like that ). Serious MTD/Bart growl, clear as a bell all the way up the neck. Best offshore MTD I've owned, and I've owned 3! Almost re-considered the sale when I plugged it in, but the '70 Gibson EB-0 has to be financed somehow!

Additional photos can be seen here.

Asking $350 shipped CONUS. Willing to ship elsewhere, just contact me for shipping rates. PM with any questions!

Not sure what kind of pre it is, but I haven't cracked the control cavity on back. Will have a look. Will try to get some sound clips, too.

Super-solid. Slight bit of Music Man humbucker growl with the treble up a bit, nice and fat with the bass up and/or tone rolled off a bit. I was actually really surprised at how many tones you can pull with those three knobs.
