FS/FT: Music Man BFR 25th Anniversary 4HSS Quilt (1 of 3) All Rosewood Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is my beautiful Ball Family Reserve Solid Rosewood Necked 25th Anniversary Bass 4HSS with Quilted Maple Top finished in the Venetian Redburst.

The 25ths as a whole were only offered for order in 2009, and there were only 25x BFR 25ths made in all configurations. There were only 3 made in this particular configuration (4HSS Quilt), and this one is a looker. In addition to its jaw dropping top, it plays like butter and sounds like a million bucks.

It comes in the Humbucker - Single Coil - Single Coil version, with amazing versatility. Each pickup can be selected independently or in combination with the other pickups. The bridge humbucker can also be placed in series or parrallel.

Aside from the pickups, it also has a passive mode with tone control, and an active mode with 18v pre-amp and 4-band EQ.

The body is Ash with a Mahogany tone block, quilted maple top, body binding, and the BFR All Rosewood Neck, which is the icing on the cake. These necks are the smoothest, fastest things I've ever put my hands on.

Here are some photos:

It is in excellent, like new condition (still has the stickers on).

I'm now asking $2250 or best offer I'm open to an international sale, but will need to take that on a case by case basis.

I'm really only looking for a straight sale at this point.

If you have any questions please let me know, and thanks for taking a look!

Why does this have to be so beautiful? Why? Especially when I don't have the cash.

Beautiful.
Nut width?
Is the neck feel closer to a SR or a Sterling?

Thanks man, it's a real beauty, and the pictures don't really even do it justice.

Yeah, I know.... Major self ass-kickage will follow for many years. I appreciate the sentiment brother.

The 25ths use the Bongo neck profile which is a hybrid that is between the Stingray and Sterling.

It is 1-5/8th" at the nut. I personally find it extremely comfortable.

Bump for a great bass and great seller. People, this is one of 25 of these basses made. I have one of these too. It's a very special bass that I think brings the player out. Very smooth to play and sooo expressive. The active, passive feature makes it a Swiss army knife of tone. Smooth vintage tine to aggressive musician palette. And it's gorgeous. Don't let this one go.

Thank Bill, I agree completely. I'll be hanging onto it's fretless counterpart.

I currently have her strung with La Bella Deep Talkin Flats 760FL which give it a great massive, rich, deep tone. I'll ship with these or EB Slinkys, buyers choice.

Here are some rough recordings to hopefully give an idea of it's studio potential.

These are via the pre-EQ out on an LM2 into.a Delta 1010LT to Audacity.

Thanks. It is an exquisite specimen, but I just can't justify it with my current skill set.

It's approximately 9.5 lbs according to my bathroom scale. If weight is a big concern, I'll be happy to find a more accurate way to measure it. It's a very comfortable bass to play and a reasonable weight for an EBMM especially considering the mahogany tone block and solid rosewood neck.

And it's back on the market with a nice fat PRICE DROP!

$2250 or best offer!!!

I paid $2750 originally for this, so that's a nice $500 savings to you for an extremely rare, beautiful, and fantastic playing/sounding instrument. This baby is going to be the stuff of myths and legends. They only made 3 like her and 25 total. How often do you see a Rosewood necked BFR Stingray or Bongo come up for sale anymore?!? And they were only one year prior to these. This is really something special and I'd like her to go to a good home.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Thanks for all the trade offers but I'm now really only looking for a straight sale.
