FS Music Man Fretless Copy

Sign in to disble this ad
I had this one made for me. It is a Music Man Copy body and neck. I have had the fretboard removed and had my luthier replace it with a Maple Fretless board. It has an Epoxy finish so round wound strings will not hurt the board. This has passive electronics and plays like a dream. She has a mmwah that my 1978 P with the maple board had. The finish is satin on the neck. It feels better and plays like the wind.
Here are some pictures. The color is Trans Teal...

Small scratches and stuff on the bass. Nothing major except the one chip pictured
$350 + Shipping...

The neck cost just about $300 alone.

3 holes on the plate? Maybe one dummy knob so when someone asks for a differnt tone, you turn the dummy knob and watch them say "thats better" !

It's wired like all the OLP / Turser Stringray copies are - Volume (front coil,) Volume (rear coil,) Tone.

Normal Stingray pickups are wired in parallel, unlike a Gibson type humbucker which is wired in series. The OLP type basses give you a volume control for each coil, although the range of tones you can get from one isn't really that great. I figure you can get 2 main tones, which are single-coil and humbucking.

The mod I always do to these basses is to drop a 3-way rotary switch in the center hole, and set it up for parallel / single / series like a Sterling or SR5. It's easy to do and only costs a few bucks for the switch.

BTW I love this bass, it's just like my old '78 P fretless. Free bump.

It has been a very long time since I have played it. I will check tonight. I really don't know. I thought it was a Volume/Treble/Bass.
This may be active. According to Jay Turser website, they are active.

I am not an expert, but it looks to be either Ash or Alder to me.

Can you update the pics. And is this a Turse or OLP? I play both, so either is fine.
