FS MusicMan Stingray 5HH in Cherryburst

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello bassers,

This is a brand new Ernie Ball/Music Man Stingray 5 with dual humbuckers, a 3 band EQ, and a pickup selector switch. All active.

I am not sure what the body wood is, but it's got a great-looking rosewood fingerboard and maple neck. The body is a great cherryburst, fading from cherry red to translucent orange/yellow, all covered by a tort pick guard. The finish is guaranteed 100% flawless - just as you'd find it on the showroom floor. No scratches, bumps, bruises, buckle rash, swirlies, nothing. It has spent most of its life on a String Swing stand and has never been brought out of the bedroom.

The hardware is in great condition and works flawlessly. The only flaw I see on the entire bass is the output jack which seems to have a few absolutely TINY specs of chrome missing. The photo exaggerates their severity. I can order a replacement jack cover and install it before it's shipped to you, if you wish. As a matter of fact, the pickguard and control cavity cover still have the plastic on them!

This bass seems to be setup to EBMM specs; the action is quite good but could likely go a little lower if desired.

The bass ships with the original hardshell case and all case candy. It will have Schaller strap locks installed (but no strap).

I always use a professional packing company to ship my basses. It costs a bit more but I have never even had a scratch on the basses once delivered. I prefer to use UPS Ground, insured, signature required, but I am flexible.

I'm selling this for SOLD. For those west of the Mississippi I have to charge an extra $25 for shipping -- the pro shippers cost a lot. Sorry for the misleading title, that was an older price that I am no longer looking to sell for.

This baby is FS only, sorry!

A note about the photos: I was working with a very wide-angle lens, so the bass' proportions will likely look somewhat "off." I live in a small area and cannot photograph the bass with a normal focal length lens. The lighting is also very harsh. If you would like to see the bass with correct photography, I am happy to take outdoor pics.

You can visit this album for some more pics.

You betcha it is! I'm playing it now and REALLY starting to consider taking it back off the market. I could use a bit of cash for the next week, but I don't think I want to get rid of this baby!

If anyone has a Warwick Thumb 4/5 or Spector Euro 4/5 then I would be interested in a trade...

I don't blame you.

I just got one of these in the mail. What are your favorite settings?

I really like setting the selector switch to one click toward the neck pickup (so one click to the left of dead center) and then boosting the mids and bass by about 20 degrees each. Pure rock sound!

I actually think the bridge pickup only position (selector all the way right) isn't a great tone, it doesn't seem to capture the "Stingray sound" all too well. But when you set it one click before fully right, it's magic.

Back on the market FS only. I'm really looking to get closer to $1,250 for the bass -- it isn't worth letting go for (too much) less!!!
