Just got this last week from music123! Black and maple. Strung with roto66 nickels. I didn't have an issue with a hot preamp. It is quite hot but as long as you have a decent amp with an active input, lower the gain and turn up the compression it works fine like all my other basses.
Bass sounds fat! It's bang for the buck. I just figured I'm not a maple guy.
