FS: Nordy VP5 (with Big Split) dead mint

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD

I recently bought this new from the crew at Nordstrand and it is an awesome bass. VP5 with ash body, maple neck (incredibly comfortable profile) with rosewood fingerboard. The finish is clear aged vintage white body with vintage tint on the neck (satin finish on the neck). It has a Nordstrand P pup along with a Big Split, passive, vol/vol/tone. It'll do the great Nordy VP tone but you also can get an awesome slap tone or a snarling bridge sound. Playability is stunning. This is easily the easiest 5-string bass I've every owned - and I've owned some great ones.

So if it is so amazing, why am I selling? The main reason is that I have decided that I want to focus on 4-string for the time being, and I hate having a bass around that I'm not regularly playing. The other thing is that I occasionally struggle with tendonitis and playing a 5 tends to make that flare up.

At any rate, new this would cost close to $3K (I believe that prices just went up) and you'd have a number of months wait. This is spotless (I used it on a handful of gigs and am very careful with my gear).

Nordy VP5 (with Big Split)
ash body
maple/rosewood neck
19mm bridge
34" scale
8.5 lbs

$2175 shipped in a brand new case (CONUS). Sorry, no trades as I just splurged and bought a Fodera 4-banger (another factor in the sale).

I still rave about it. It is the best playing 5'er I've owned and it sounds awesome. Seriously - the neck is amazing. My hands just don't like a wide 5. In retrospect the only 5s I've been able to play all night long were my Zons and my Deep 5. Getting old sucks...

I'll get exact measurements when I'm back at home later today. It is 34" scale, 9-14" variable radius, and iirc the nut is 1-7/8" and it is just under 3" wide at the 20th fret but I'll verify. Neck shape on the back is not huge/beefy - very fast and comfortable.

All the above is correct. And the string to string spacing at the bridge is 19mm.
