FS ONLY: 1969 Fender Telecaster Bass, All Original & Custom Ordered

Sign in to disble this ad
It is time to seriously clean out the archives and end multiple decades of collecting. First up is a 1969 Fender Telecaster Bass in Very Good condition, considering it is 40 years old. This is the pre-humbucker period of the Tele Bass, which is essentially a reissue of the 1951 Precision. It comes with the original case in good working order. Of course, this bass is yellowed Natural Blonde in color. I have every reason to believe this is a custom order due to the “C” width neck (1 3/4” vs. standard 1 5/8” at nut) and the black pickguard.

This bass has been played. It shows all the signs of a front line gig machine (wear on the body, sweat stains on E side upper frets, slight rusting on chrome pup cover near finger rest), BUT it is in really nice shape all things considered….and did I mention that it’s all original? The neck is straight, intonation extremely playable (neck shim installed, fyi) and frets are good. It has tone and sustain for days….a great player plugged and unplugged. It is a piece of bass history and should go to a home that understands its true value.

Just for fun I thought I’d attach this Fender promo piece from 1969:

Fender has gone back more than 15 years to reintroduce the original solid-body electric bass. Recently, veterans and newcomers alike in the music field have rediscovered the smooth playing action and moving sounds of the Telecaster Bass.

The slender all-maple neck is remarkably fast, truss-rod reinforced and set for low string, high-speed playing action. The single pickup is located for the maximum string response and is adjustable at either end for custom string balance. Both the tone and volume control are located for easy access and permit a wide variation of values. Two individual bridges are adjustable for both length and height enabling the player to achieve perfect string intonation.

The comfort contoured body is finished in natural blond and trimmed with a white pickguard. All metal parts are case hardened and chrome plated to maintain a like-new appearance indefinitely. Available in selected custom finishes and left-hand models.

FOR SALE ONLY for $4250 shipped/insured or best reasonable offer. Absolutely no trades, serious inquiries only. USPS Money Order preferred, Paypal acceptable.

Awesome bass. I believe the C width neck did come on these basses normally though. I have a 68 neck and it is a C width.

My '69 Tele bass had a C neck which was the most massive neck I've ever had on a 4-string. (We used to refer to it as a "baseball bat".) I loved that bass, but stupidly sold it.

Wish I had the disposable funds to buy this one.
