Hate to do this, but one of my pups needs ear surgery and I need to come up with some quick cash. Up for sale is my 1974 Rickenbacker 4001. It is by no means a minty piece, but it does have some serious mojo. It's worn pretty heavily, but not damaged. Used - a lot - but not abused. It comes with a non-original tweed hard case that's got some scuffing on the outside, but is in great shape. Currently strung with DR Lo-Riders. Pricing it to move quickly at $1500 Shipped OBO in the CONUS. No trades on this one please, I wouldn't be selling her if I didn't need the cash.

I've had it for a couple years, here is what I know about it:

Serial #: NE3332 - dates to may of 1974
Wavy Grovers - The E-String tuner feels a little loose but works fine.
According to the guy I bought it from, it had the truss rods professionally replaced at some point.
It has the capacitor bypass mod, easy to reverse, just remove one wire.
It has red fret markers, someone told me this was pretty rare, but I can't find any info on them.

Here are the pics:

I was offered 1400 by a music shop owner for resale, i'd rather keep it in the TB community, so if anybody matches that offer tonight it's yours.

cheers

Yep pretty rare, red fret markers and wavy grovers. IIRC only done for a year. Actually less than a year since mine is also a 74 but w/o em.

That's pretty amazing guys, but after selling the ric the surgery is mostly covered. There's plenty of people out there in much more need than I.

I actually have messed with the rods, my tech said they were in great shape though. I have no idea on the wings, I don't think so though.

I'm sorry for the dog man. I hope the little guy is alright. If I had the money, that Ric would be on it's way to Atlanta right now and your dog would be on the vet's table. I wish I had the dough.

Lots of interest but I really need the cash in pocket, looks like it's going to the dealer.

Well the other buyer hasn't responded, so it's back on the block unless he gets back to me.
