1986 Fodera Deluxe 4 string once owned by Richard Bona. This is loaded with a JJ pickup setup and 3 band pope pre. Comes with Flight case Richard used for it. (info from Low End where i bought it - Paid $4999).
Condition is excellent, some minor playware but i mean it's in seriously good nick, especially for it's age. I put some EMG's in there as i thought the original pickups where way to bright (yes brighter than EMG's) but i will include the original pickups as well. This bass plays like an absolute dream, feels really slick and sounds incredible.
This bass is also being listed on my ebay account. will be slightly cheaper here due to no ebay fees.
$4999US plus $350 Shipping to the US, Asia or Europe (insurance extra but no required) and $4999AUD with free shipping for Australian Buyers (which is where i'm located).
Shipping outside of Australia will be through DHL Express, normally 3-5 business days. I've shipped a lot of basses overseas, never a problem and always fast and reliable.
Shipping within Australia will be through TNT Sensitive Express, usually 3-7 business days from Perth to eastern states.
I couldn't see a date on it but it looks the same as the pope pre-amp in my 2008 Emperor, so i'm sure it's pretty recent. Couldn't tell you the exact date though.
I know Richard Bona still owned the bass in 97 with the old pre-amp and the bass eventually went back to Fodera and was owned by Jason (i read in one of the Fodera threads here) who i assume did the updates.
Here's a video of Bona playing it in 97' with the old pre-amp and while it was still fretless. For some reason when i pickup the bass it just doesn't do this Zawinul Syndicate - Patriots - YouTube
The bass has the latest preamp in it and yes, I did the update at the shop so all of the work on that is by Fodera. However, whoever buys this will just want to make sure that the preamp was appropriately adjusted to account for the EMG's. It's easy to do (changing some jumper settings), but if not done the bass will never sound quite right.
It IS a wonderful instrument and whoever owns it is not only getting a very special bass, but one with a lot of history...

Thanks for confirming all this info Jason, really appreciate it.
If the pre-amp could be tweaked to sound even better with the EMG's then watch out because it sounds incredible at the moment. Will include the original pickups as well for those who wish to experiment.
