Not interested in trades, I have too many basses already

Bunker PBC GTB354. Link to info: FS/FT PBC GTB354 Tobacco Figured $500 shipped... More PIcs

Ubado said it the way it is. Still in excellent condition. Very nice ringing tone from the EMG soapbars. Pianolike is about right. With softcase: $400 shipped to lower 48 states

Great condition, everything adjusts as it should, neck is nice and straight. No issues with this bass. Paypal accepted.

Too bad its not a five banger. FTR, you can remove the the headstock from this bad boy and replace it with a string retainer if you ever want to go the headless route. Not sure if the project would require a new "tension-free" rod.

Thanks Z. That's right this one can go headless though I don't know how involved the conversion would be. It's kind of strange having tuners at both ends, but it does sure simplify string changes. No special string required, no special tools or cutting to exact lengths etc.

Actually it's sort of a heartbreaker selling this bass this cheap. These basses sold new for something like $2500 and the quality is there to support that. For some reason I guess the theory behind their unique construction never caught on and their resale went to crap. It may seem gimmicky but the bass does play great so something is at least doing what it's supposed to do. The fact is that this is a killer bass.

I've got a couple questions:

Is it indeed 1 & 5/8ths at the nut?

From what I gather on the Bunker website, neck relief is adjusted with the silver lug on the back of the neck pocket (between the neck bolts) is this right?
Measured with my digital calipers, the nut is right on 1-5/8" wide. I never had messed with the relief adjustment before since it's always been fine, but I did pop the little plug out and check out what's going on inside. I was amazed that the setscrew in the neck adjusts very easily in either direction and the relief adjustment works extremely well.
While checking the bass out I noticed a ding on the neck that I never had noticed before. If I hadn't happened to see it with the light just right I would never have known it's there.

BUMP for my old bass and for Wademeister .... a great guy to deal with!

I can't say enough great things about this bass ... light, well balanced, and sustain for days (as in the ol' Spinal Tap .... 'go out for a cup a tea' ). I've had (2) GTB354's and a GTB 355 .... they are a lot of bass for the $. Adjustments are super simple, and no worring about breaking a truss-rod .... since they don't have one. It's a "tention free" design; with a 3/8" cold rolled steel bar, instead of a truss-rod. These are the same necks built by PBC for Ibanez, for their 80's ATK basses, and carry a Lifetime Warranty!

As Zooberwerx stated ... this can be turned into a headless. I'm sure you can purchase the headless part through Bunker Guitars. Bunker used to sell it as a headless kit, but now only the "Through-Body bridges are sold on-line .... if I'm remembering correctly; it was under $40.
The change over is rather easy ... just remove the set-pin and the adjustment screw (which controls the relief) .... and simply pull out the bar (the head is attached to it) .... attach the headless part .... and there ya go!

Check out the website www.bunker-guitars.com
these basses are an engineering marvel.

...have a few questions:

Tone: How does it sound (modern, versatile, proaqbly not vintage, haha). and Active or Passive?

Neck: Width at Nut? What is the neck profile like: D shaped? Thinner, thicker?

Seems like an amazing deal.
I think it's a crazy deal but I don't play it and need the room so she has to go. Best I can describe to tone is clear. Sounds to me like I am hearing the wood talk. Decently growly but not over the top. Has more bottom than I would ever need and almost enough treble to get the nasty finger squeak when moving, but not quite there. The bridge pickup doesn't do the Jaco midrange burp, it just adds some edge. I'd say a nice range of tone but nothing extreme or weird. Nut width is 1-5/8" and the thickness isn't really fat or thin. Pretty medium. I'd also say a "C" shape but I'm no expert on that. I'm guessing a D would have sort of a flat area on the back of the neck with sort of a squarish cross section, but this one has a pretty even curve all the way from one fingerboard edge to the other with the actual fingerboard edges pretty well straight up and down. Fingerboard edges are rolled slightly and the whole thing feels very comfortable to me. Has the EMG BTC active control.
