| | Registered User | | | | | FS Only - F-Bass AC5 Signature As New Read ON Up for sale ONLY here is a 2002 F-Bass Alain Caron Signature fretless bass. I purchased this bass right here on TB about 7 months ago. It had significant signs of true player wear and as such I did get it for a decent price then. However, I'm a perfectionist and very meticulous about my basses so I had it shipped directly to F-Bass where George and his staff did a complete restoration on the bass. A completely new finish top to bottom, dressed the fretboard, updated the electronics and basically made the bass totally new again. It was set up by George with ultra low action and with Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats .043, .056, .070, .100, .136. A new spare set of these same strings will be included in this sale, these cost over $125 a set.
So after paying $1800 for the restoration I received this bass from George about 5 months ago and YES everything they say about these basses is true. If you're still reading this you know all about the AC5 Signature Bass so I won't waste your time.
The jazz project that this bass was purchased for fell through and short of a few hours playing it in my home studio this bass is factory fresh. It's a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, not a single flaw scratch or any blemish of any kind. Even the strings are not yet broken in.
List price for this bass today is as follows:
AC - Signature 5 String (right handed), standard top, Red Violin Burst, Satin Finish. - $5600
Options - Ebony Finger Ramp $165.75, Inset Strap Locks $136.00, Ebony Thumbrest $68.00, Spare TI Flats $125
Total List Price - $6094.75
My asking price is $4100 including shipping to anywhere CONUS, no international shipping will be considered so please don't ask. It will be shipped to you in the box that George recently shipped my new BN6 custom in so it will be packed right. If you have any question please ask away via PM. I always describe my for sale items here in honest detail and I'm more than comfortable saying that this bass is 100% flawless in every way. Now for some crappy iPhone photo's, sorry it's all I have.

| | Registered User | | | | | I must admit that I'm surprised at the lack of interest in this bass, help me understand why....? I've owned many fretless basses over the years, Turner Ren, a few Roscoe's
and a few others and there is nothing that even comes close to the AC5. |

When I purchased this less than a year ago it seemed like there was tons on interest in the AC5, not now. Anyway I just reduced my asking price to a rock bottom price that is significantly below what I have in this bass. $4100 to your door CONUS only. I'm going to hold this price for a few days and if it does not sell at that price I'm going to hold onto it in the hope that either the market comes back or I find another jazz gig that will allow me to use and enjoy this awesome instrument. So for a short time only $4100 takes it.... |

You just have to wait a while for them to show up (about 3 a year seem to surface).
Another consideration is that many players are daunted by fretless so higher end fretlesses have a smaller pool of potential buyers.
Having said that, no one will deny it is an awesome bass. Price is always a function of market timing and in 2013 money seems even tighter than 2012. Just my 2 cents worth . . .
VERY NICE BASS - BUMP

2. fretless
3. price
Right now I'm seeing most boutiques go for between 50-60% of their original selling price (selling, not MSRP). Any "restoration" money is essentially lost unless it is an incredibly rare instrument. There are a couple of exceptions (I've been able to sell my Foderas without a huge loss), but right now the market is pretty flooded with really nice instruments. But as always it just takes one buyer who is looking for what you're selling. If you want something to move quickly though, you either have to get lucky or be *really* aggressive with price.
Bump for a beautiful bass that would no doubt make someone a happy camper.
