FS only - Glasstone 5 string J bass -

Sign in to disble this ad
My friend Pastor Sammie Glass just introduced his line of J inspired basses. I think these should do well in the market.

This is a new demo bass in very nice condition. He'll have a website up shortly. I have another bass in process.

Lightweight Alder body, Tiger Myrtle top, Wenge neck and fingerboard. Sadowsky pickups and preamp. Hipshot hardware. Dunlop straplocks, brass nut. Sets up nice and low, this bass cuts. With gigbag. $1500 shipped CONUS. Don't sleep on this one

Brad, that bass is absolutely stunning. Really looking forward to hearing how these basses sound. The Glasstone logo against the wenge is just beautiful. Can you please post his website address once it's online?

Cheers,
Paul

What does it sound like, Brad? Those soapbars in the Jazz positions should make for an interesting sound.

Played this one myself and it sounds SIIIIICK! Massive tone. Powerful lows, growly mids and a really brilliant top end. Not that it's crazy bright or anything but the top end just sounds really full range -- complex, if that makes any more sense. Tonally, I'd say it's surprisingly similar to a 60s jazz bass but with more focus down low and more punch in the low mids. With the exception of two or three bass brands, I'm not usually the biggest fan of dual coil pickups in fretted basses but this is one of those basses that eliminates all the things I tend to dislike about them. This right here is a dangerous bass folks.

Kwesi summed it up nicely.

It took me completely by surprise when I plugged it in. It's funny, the first question I asked Sammie after I played this bass was the same one I asked Joey Nahas when I first tried one on his custom speakers...

"How busy do you want to be?"

Like the Nahas cabs I still use to this day, these basses represent something special IMO as far as high performance at what I already told him was a steal of a price. Preach has been gigging his for a few weeks. Got the call that my new one is ready.

I'm typically not a fan of light basses. Like my Yancey, he's found a way to build a lightweight bass that kicks major butt... by my standards.

Pick ups

The look of this bass is beyond normal, I have a Sadowsky Metro and love the preamp, so starting from there it has to be good. What pick up are you using? I'm in a process to sell my American Deluxe Jazz Bass V and will be shopping around for a Sadowsky Metro Vintage 60s with Alder body and Rosewood o Morado fretboard, but the wenge is a excellent tone wood to, as my Warwicks are. I might be changing my mind and be one of the fist to buy one of these.
Bless you all.
