Greetings!
I'm thinning the herd and I've got a couple of basses that I'm thinking about getting rid of. No trades, please! Gotta pay off my last purchase.
55-02: Black with Nordies replacement pickups installed. That's a $300 upgrade! Great bass, great condition. Just picked this up from Quadzilla a while back. Thread here: TRADED! Lakland 55-02 w Nordstrands & HSC $900 shipped. It's on the 'Bay too, so if you're looking, hit it here for less and I'll shut the auction down!
MTD Z5: Another great sounding and great playing bass. Light weight and plays fast. Got it from Adrian Garcia a couple months ago. Thread here: MTD Zephyr 5 SOLD ON THE 'BAY
Both basses are still in exactly the condition described above. I'm only selling to thin the herd and to pay for my new (to me) Benavente. MORE NEW PIX ADDED here: http://community.webshots.com/user/dcr72104

A few playing swirls on the back and a few on the front from slapping, but overall, probably 9/10 or a bit better. No noticeable dings that I recall.

I haven't played on though. How do they compare to a Lakland 55-02 w/ the new Lakland P-ups? (which is what I have)
Just curious what you guys think.
Thanks,

Also, I'm not sure what fret board is on this. Is it Rosewood? And I assume the head is natural Maple? |

The ONLY reason I'm considering it is that I'm full-up on modern basses, with one more one the way (Stammie SC5 with Aero's)! But I don't have a decent Jazz bass. Figured that going to the stacked singles would get me pretty close. The Z5 is a GREAT PLAYING and SOUNDING bass, and certainly comparable to a 535 (at least to my previous 535). It's just the easiest to "customize" into what I need in my tone arsenal. And if I don't drill holes for single/double switching, it goes back to stock with no one the wiser. I personally think that a used Z5 is one of the best bang-for-the-buck buys in a modern-sounding bass. And I'm not just saying that because I have one for sale. After all, I bought it used.
Plus I'm thinning the herd (up to 10 now). If I can trade these two off for one higher-end Jazz 5 (Metro, Atelier Z, Modulus Genesis, etc.), then I'll do that. If not, I'll either sell them separately and buy a Metro or I'll sell the Lakie and mod the Z5.
And the fretboard is rosewood. The headstock cap is similar in color to the body.

The 55-02 came to me with the Nordies installed. I got the bass from Quadzilla, but I think BFISHER1970 put them in a while before Quad bought it.
I've never played another one; I'm sorry but I can't tell you what the differences are between the two different makes.

BTW -- they ARE NOT included in this price. But if anyone buys the bass, I'll sell them for the same price I paid -- or maybe at a slight discount. I may have an upcoming bass for them, though. Gotta find out for sure on that.

This is one of the nicest looking Laklands I've seen. I'm normally not a big fan of black basses but this one really caught my attention. Doug is also a great guy to deal with, believe me!
