Hey Gang,
For your consideration is a mid 1980's Ibanez Roadstar II RB650.
Shows the usual dings and dents you'd expect for a gigged bass of this vintage. Nothing drastic and no bare wood showing.
First, The Bad:
- At some point in time in my naive youth, I was inspired by Jaco to turn the neck into a fretless. It's not the best job...the frets were pulled, the slots filled with wood filler, and the board finished with marine epoxy.
- The logo has been completely fcuked. It was intially taped over, then blacked out. The "Roadstar II Bass Series" and "The Ultimate Expression of Craftsmanship" are still somewhat visible.
- The pots are scratchy and could stand to be replaced.
- The jack is tempermental and could stand to be replaced.
- The pickguard screws had rusted out and been replaced by flat head finishing screws. One screw head broke off and the screw itself is still in the body. Didn't wanna drill this one out.
- The bridge is heavily corroded, as are the original factory metal knobs.
Now, The Good:
- Stock PUP's replaced with Duncan Quarter Pound P/Js
- Cool MWAH!
- Neck is straight.
- Rotosound Flatwounds.
- Tuners show mild pitting but are still shiny silver.
So that's the long and short of it.

Again, it's a project bass...it's not perfect but may provide someone the necessary inspiration to get her gig ready once again....
