Most of you know the the early production MIJ are the Fenders to get. Some go as far to say, that in terms of build quality, they were the best Fenders ever made (yes, even including MIA instruments).
Anyway, I have a "players" P up for grabs. As you can see, she is a bit rough cosmetically, but the price reflects that. I assure you that she plays and sounds wonderful. Nice low action and fast satin finish neck and fat P tone. Reasonably light, etc. A very nice P.
The pickguard and knobs are not original. There is also an extra pickguard screw hole in the body right by the input jack where the owner had mounted an improper pickguard that was a bit too large. Has two small holes in between the bridge and bridge pup where a Roland midi pup sat at one time. Holes are plugged now. It's not obvious from any reasonable distance. The original bottom strap botton hole got too big and was relocated about one inch away (higher). Can easily be plugged in a few min and put back to original position (but it's not a big deal). Just more real-world relicing.
Strung with Fender flats at the moment. Tone is nice and fat! I'll even toss in a brand new set of rounds.
She's a great bass that you will never worry about gigging with or getting a ding or scratch on. Pretty light for a P also. Amazing player and tone!

Most early run MIJ Fender's seem to fetch $550 - $850. Given the wear, I'll let this go for $449. THe important things are there: plays great, sounds great, is great! People pay extra for faux-relic'd instruments today. This has real-world relicing and you get it at a discount instead of an increase in price!
