Very Rare "Renaissance" FRETLESS bass. See Though "smoke" Plexiglass/ lucite. These guitars and basses were made in Pennsylvania back in the 1970s and apparently there were less than 400 made total.
How many would you think were Fretless Basses? How many survived in great condition??? Let me tell you as a fan of these basses, this bass is UBER rare and in really nice condition...since the company roughly made 400 guitars and basses total, as I mentioned before, how many fretless basses were made? Maybe a dozen or two, if that? I can't stress enought the rarity of this bass.
Neck is straight. Not much fingerboardboard wear. The bass will need a setup as it has been unused and stored for a while (couple of years). But even though it has been stored it is still in very good condition, the brass parts are nice and this will be a great player, live, or for recording.
Top quality parts were standard. Badass Bridge, Grover tuners, twin DiMarzio pickups, great flamey neck and remains in excellent original condition. Comes in hard case also.
If you want something "different" you won't find anything cooler at the price.
Please PM WITH PHONE or EMAIL if serious and need in hand description. This bass was posted up on evil bay too, the price is reduced for TB'ers only and will consider reasonable offers for this rare bass.
$650 plus shipping

How would you describe the tone of her? | They are really cool basses, I like the tone...as you well know tone is a very personal and subjective thing, me personally...tone wise it sounds great. I can't however play a fretless worth a damn!
This one is the only fretless Rennaisance I have ever had or seen. As I mentioned the in the OP there were roughly 400 instruments made before they went under, that was mostly fretted basses and guitars. I could not find production numbers on these but if I had to guess, there were maybe a few dozen fretless basses made (if that) considering the total production of instruments.

I saw this on Austin craigslist...very tempting & I can't help but think it sounds cool too. Good luck with your sale. I'm sure someone here will grab that bit of unique style. |

70's DiMarzios sound so good. This is the same pickup layout as the fender Elite P's. Bet this bass sounds fabulous. |

How would you describe the tone of her? | The best way I can describe it is like this...if a P Bass and a jazz had love child it would be this bass! the tone is very P like in the sense that it has some bottom in when you dial in the neck, but can get that Jazz bridge tone. Overall it is a cool bass. Of course different amps, strings and playing style will yield different tones. Quote:

The pickups are AMAZING, I too am a huge fan of vintage DiMarzios, I love the vintage P Bass pickups and the Super Distortions for guitar. They are awesome and like any quality vintage gear they only get better with age! Just a side note, from what I have seen these basses were very expensive for the day. On average a new one was around $1400, they weren't cheap.

This bass is a strong 9 out of 10...I do not throw around condition scale numbers often, when I do they are conservative.

I know it's not right to combine words like 'most' with 'unique', but this bass deserves that sort of tasty contradiction. Shame to think this company went under when this is what they were bringing to the world of music. |

I was asking $650 plus shipping, I will do $650 shipped...someone needs to grab this rare beast before I change my mind.
