FS ONLY - SADOWSKY NYC ULTRA VINTAGE 4 and MARCUS MILLER 4 with Jazz 24 Pre

Sign in to disble this ad
SADOWSKY IS SOLD AND THE MARCUS IS ON HOLD FOR SLAPMAN!

These are my last 2 basses left from my acquisitions during 23 years of marital bliss. Due to the cessation of said bliss, (ie my pending divorce) it seems that my ex is determined to liquidate all of my assets and milk me for everything she can. All that aside first up is my beloved Sadowsky NYC Ultra Vintage. Specs first:

#4529 | Ultra-Vintage J-Bass

FINISH | Shoreline Gold with Matching Headstock, Nitrocellulose Lacquer
BODY | Alder
FINGERBOARD | Brazilian Rosewood, 9" Radius, 20 Frets, 1.50" Nut Width
PICKGUARD | Parchment
HARDWARE | Chrome
PICKUPS | Sadowsky Single Coil
WEIGHT | 8.60 lbs. (3.90 kg)

Now Pics:

First, the Body. It looks more like Platinum than Gold in person!

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Headstock has checking of the NITRO which shows up in a couple of pics this is normal for NITRO finishes and I was initially worried about until Roger told me it was fine...

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

BEAUTIFUL Brazillian Board!

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Finally, this is the ONLY blemish I can find.

[IMG][/IMG]

The guy holding this not only has a bright blue shirt on to give you an idea of the color, he also happens to be the greatest keyboardist I know!

This has been my favorite Sadowsky for about 2 years and it is definitely a player! She will ship in the original Sadowsky Ultra Light for $2850 to the lower 48. This bass is over $4,000 new and will take about 6-8 months to get! Save some money and some time...

Next up is my CIJ Fender Marcus Miller. I got this just before I was given the good news about liquidation! It is in GREAT Shape and has been modded with a Fender Jazz 24 Preamp. I initially wanted to change the pre but I actually like it. It is quiet with no hum and sounds really good. Definitely a huge improvement over the stock pre!!! Weight is about 9.5 lbs and she has NO ISSUES at all.

This one will go for $775 Shipped to the lower 48 well packed as I got no case with it. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!

Peace,

T

The Sadowsky is a thing of beauty. I am so sorry to hear about your divorce. I had to sell almost everything that wasn't nailed down to hold on to the house I'd owned for twenty years before I even met her. I think it's much better to lose material possessions than to live in misery.

Thanks! Tihs is "retribution" for "selling" some vintage guitars and other stuff to my dad for a REALLY good price!

It sucks but it could be worse.

Peace,

Nice, nice, super nice
Any signficant tone difference between the Vintage and Ultra Vintage, I know the body size and pup placement but I have never played a UV.

The UV has Single coils and a 9" radius...tonally the difference is obviously the wood and the PUPS. I love them both! I did a session with the Gold UV today and the guy said it was the best tone he has ever had in his studio! I used my Neve 8801 with NO EQ and VERY light compression. He did a quick mix and said he would not need any EQ or any further compression on the bass tracks. This is the biggest studio in the DC area. He took my number and told me he would pay all my expenses including mileage and would provide me with accommodations if I would start coming up there to do sessions for him...

Peace,

T

Just a thought, but if the UV blew him away so much that he offered you the ongoing sessions gig, you might want to re-think selling it! Especially since it's the best bass sound he's ever heard in the studio. Maybe sell something else and hang onto that one? (None of my business, I know. It's just that's such a cool story, and it must be one killer tone!)

Unfortunately I don't have a choice. My soon to be ex is forcing me to liquidate ALL the instruments I still have that I acquired during our 23 years of bliss. I have had to sell ALL the gear that I have acquired over the years as a result. This is retribution for me selling a LOT of Vintage guitars and amps and my endorsement era basses to my dad for a VERY good price and thinking I could get away with it. The downside is that I had to split what he paid for them with her. The upside is that he has agreed to sell them all back to me when I want them for what he paid me for them. The bigger problem is that as a result I had to sell some REALLY choice gear like this Sadowsky to save a lot of other things. They are trying to get my vintage muscle car collection but they are titled in my mom's name. (luckily I titled them in her name from the get go!!) So far the judge agrees that they can't touch the cars but she is getting everything she can....(surprise) If I could I would keep the Sadowsky and the Alleva I have I definitely would.

Peace,

T

I'm real sorry to hear that. If I were in a position to help you out by buying that UV, I'd definitely do so. Best of luck.

Having seen this Sadowsky first hand, I can say that it's hard to capture the beauty of the finish in photos. Even the Sadowsky shop photo doesn't come close to getting it, IMO. The color is a beautiful deep silver gold. To my eye, it doesn't look ugly in the photos, but I was still surprised at how much better it looked when I saw it for myself.

This is a relatively rare Sadowsky model in an uncommon finish. It's a sharp looking combination that might make this bass one-of-a-kind.

Thanks Tim! That was very well put and far better than I could have done... LOL!

If I am not mistaken she is the only one they ever did in the particular color in NITRO and they are not doing NITRO anymore so I guess it will remain a one of a kind!

BTW - She is off tomorrow to Nashville to tinmaks! Thanks for looking and God Bless!

Peace,

T

Weekend Bump...I forgot to mention that the Marcus preamp is wired to be on all the time for some reason. I have no way of changing it to be correct so keep this in mind...
