It's the same old story -- I have a killer new acquisition to pay for, and I'd like to move one or both of these basses.
1981 JG 4001: (
whole mess of pictures here)
The finish is pretty worn in but doesn't go through to the wood except for a couple dings (although most likely it's been touched up), black pickguard, looks like the screw in the middle of one tuner was changed out (from flathead to phillips), but otherwise all stock as far as I can tell. Has one wear spot through the finish on the fretboard between the first and second frets. No fretboard separation at all -- no seam to be felt. What's special about it is that it's a really nice player -- comfy neck and sounds good. Actually one of the better players I've had by far. Ships in a later molded case. I'd be looking to get
$1300 shipped for it in the US, plus shipping elsewhere (I'll ship basically anywhere).
2008 BBR 4004L: (
plenty of pictures here)
This Laredo has one small nick through the finish on the front face of the bass (pictured) but is otherwise in great condition. It's a really nice deep blue finish, and the neck is nice and solid. The HB pickups are powerful with a lot more low-range than I'm used to (more than my old 2005 Laredo, too); while they may sound a little boomy if your bass is EQed for a 4001, there's a nice mid-rangey sound with solid fundamental if you turn down a bit of the bass. It still sounds quite a bit like a Rick to me, just meatier. I'm looking for
$1700 shipped for it in the US, plus shipping elsewhere.
I've attached one pic of each here, but please hit the photobucket albums for a bunch more pictures, and let me know if there's something else you'd like to see. I'm not in a huge rush to move these out; they'll probably go on eBay in a week or so if I can't move one here.
I am not looking for trades at this time -- thanks.
