FS Only: White/Maple Lakland DJ5 w/Audere and Nordies...

You all know what this is, so I won't bore you with anything but the "need to knows". Bought this a while back from another TB'er whom got it from another (and possibly even another before that). Seems as though it has been modified somewhat with each owner through upgrades... see details below.

When I bought it, it was listed as having "no issues". Well, that wasn't entirely the case. While the body is virtually *flawless*, the neck has seen somewhat better days, or is at least far from perfect. There's nothing that inhibits playability, or that you really even notice when playing... it actually plays great, but there are some cosmetic issues.

The primary issue being that the back bottom tip (the downward point) of the headstock looks like it had rubbed against something over a long period of time... it's just kinda rounded off. I was told by the previous, previous owner recently that it was like that when he had it, but didn't get the story on it. You can't see it from the front, so it doesn't really affect the aesthetics of the bass from the audience POV, and it obviously doesn't affect the sound or playability, but it is there. See attached pics.

Also, there are a couple notable scratches on the neck. One is located toward the bottom starting at the 3rd fret... maybe a bit longer than 1/2". Not very deep, but it is there. The other is kind of more of a scratch/dig, also located toward the bottom at the 11th fret. Again, not very deep or too large, but there. There are also a few *extremely* minor random dings here and there along the neck... nothing major worth noting beyond what I mentioned already. I couldn't even really get any of this stuff to show up when taking pics, and don't even notice them while playing it. Of course, it has the usual minor headstock dings too (see pics).

Some people probably don't even think some of these things would be worth mentioning, but I believe in full and honest disclosure when selling. I was actually planning on sanding out the flaws, removing the finish and applying a tung oil finish to the neck to make it more like my 55-94, but just haven't had the time.

The details...
- Action is quite low, neck is perfectly straight and the truss works fine. No noticeable fret wear.
- Audere JZ3 preamp ($149) (I do not have the original passive control plate)
- Nordstrand NJ5S ($239) split-coil, hum canceling pickups
- Dunlop recessed strap locks
- Jeannie's pickguard ($50) (either Tort OR Pearloid... will switch to your choice)
- I don't have a scale, but if I had to guess, I'd put the weight around 10.5 or less.

All together, this bass has $400+ in upgrades, new.

This thing is a tone monster... *great* slap tone and cuts through a mix fantastic no matter what style you're playing. I've brought many (15, to be more exact) very good to amazing basses to my band's practices, and there have only been a few that make my band mates look at me with the "hell yeah!" look when they hear it. This is one of them.

The reason I'm selling it is GAS, of course (have an MTD 535 waiting for me to pay the balance on). I also have another stock DJ5 that I was going to put up originally, but now that they stopped making them, I'll be holding on to that one (you never know). Since I already had a DJ5, I basically bought this one to check out the Audere and Nordstrands. They did not disappoint. I have another bass I'm stalking, so this one needs to go.

Ships in a SKB HSC for $1100 firm. PayPal accepted (go ahead, bust out that credit card). Sorry, no trades.

CONUS sales ONLY. 80+ positive feedbacks (all positive) between here Gearslutz.com and eBay under the same screen name. PM with questions.

Pictures below...

Thanks,
Chris

It is a gorgeous combo, and was my original choice when first looking for a DJ... but they were impossible to find at the time, so I ended up with the Black/RW. I grew to love that combo as well

Here are some more pics of the neck stuff. Thinking I may have scared everyone away with my original description

Was able to pic them up better in these pics with the daylight today...

As you can see, beyond the "rounded" headstock, nothing too drastic. There was one more scratch I noticed while shooting these which is at the 7th fret. Again, nothing that you really notice when playing and all of these scratches could prob even be repaired rather easily if you're so inclined.

Well, I've had a few offers.

Just want to make it clear, that price is very firm. Don't think I've ever seen a DJ5 with a HSC go for less than $950 around here, and definitely haven't seen one with $450 worth of upgrades go for $1000.

Thanks,
Chris

The "white" color is severly understated in the pics.....this color is truly amazing in person...I have had a DJ4 and a DJ5 in this color and will have one again some day....

if it had a RW neck I would consider this one....

bumpage....buy this bass!
