FS/Partial Trade Feeler: All original '78 Precision Walnut w/ maple, MOJO!!!!

This bass plays like butter. Possibly the best feeling neck I have ever played. It's made me fall in love with P's again but I can't justify owning a vintage one when I could get the same result with a used recent MIA or MIJ for half the price or less. I'm not a collector so I am feeling out interest here.

I am looking to sell outright for $1300 firm shipped CONUS.

I would also consider partial trades plus cash from you. I can't do a straight trade at the moment unless it's something really special. Trade bait (please note 4 strings only):

-MIA, MIJ, or Highway 1 P's, preferably with 1 5/8" nuts and maple fretboards but will consider others and other brands of P's as well

-Lakland Skyline 4- DJ, Decade, Hollow Body or Glaub

-Eastwood/Dipinto/Italia or other quirky basses

-US made G&L ASAT's, L-1000's, L-2000's, SB-1's, SB-2's

-EBMM Bongo 4's, Big Al's

-Maybe large cabinets like a 412 215 or 610 (no 810's, can't fit them in my car!)

I bought the P on here two months ago from this thread:

FS: 1978 Fender P - all original with tons of mojo

I couldn't but the description better than the TB'er I bought it from so am cut and pasting it here:

***************
This is completely original (paint, pups, pots, bridge, tuners, pickguard, etc.) except I did have the pickup wires replaced with vintage cloth covered ones. Bass was recently setup with new D'Addario half rounds. I also had the bass shielded with copper tape in the pickup cavity, partial back of pickguard and underneath bridge. The bass is completely silent with no hum. Thumbrest included (original pickguard has holes for it) as is the original ashtray. Here are the specs.

The neck date stamp code is B0103-1385 and was inspected by A. Sambrano. According to Fender historic data that code translates to the following.

• B = neck width which is 1-5/8” at the nut
• 01 = code for Precision Bass
• 03 = code for Fretted Maple Neck (a fretted maple fretboard is fairly rare of this vintage)
• 13 = 13th week of production
• 8 = 1978
• 5 = made on the 5th day of the week (Friday…a great day to make a bass)

Both original pots are stamped 1377805 and translate to the following.

• 137 = CTS brand pots (vs. 304 which is code for Stackpole brand pots)
• 78 = 1978
• 05 = 5th week of production

Both original pickups are stamped 782317…again for the year 1978

The headstock Serial Number is S863517 and matches the original Fender sticker on the back of the pickguard labeled S863517 . That's pretty rare I'm told.

Plays great, tons of life left on the fretwork, pickup output is very good (about 7.5K each). Body has lots of natural relicing from actual playing (a.k.a. mojo...not fake) but all components are in amazing shape otherwise. The tuners and bridge have that fantastic vintage patina appearance. The back of the neck has that worn but smooth look and feel.

The truss works properly and the tuners are very smooth. It's the real deal and has mojo for days.

****************

Bass will ship in a non-original, recent molded hardshell case in great condition, that has some easily removable hot rod/pin up girl stickers. I left 'em as I kinda dig the look.

My camera skills stink and the previous owner's pictures are better than what I tried to get so I am using them here. Bass in exact same condition as when I bought it.
