FS: Passive Carvin SB4000 Black Beauty!

Sign in to disble this ad
I think that I've finally decided that I don't get along with passive jazz-style basses.

I picked this one up used a while back, but I have to say, it looks like it's in new condition to me. I can't find any scratches or dings, truss works well and it's in all around good condition. It was set up for BEAD tuning when I got it so the nut may have been filed for the strings, but I've had it strung standard since I've had it and haven't had any issues (pics in post 27). I'll ship it with the original warwick set that was on it along with the bass.

This one is a little hefty at 11 lbs. 5 oz, but it doesn't seem that heavy to me.

Since I didn't build it, I this is my best guess of the specs:

Base Model Options Quantity Price
SB4000
Right Handed 1 $849.00
-MA - Maple Neck/Alder Body (Standard) $0.00
-CG - Clear Gloss Finish (Standard) $0.00
B - Jet Black $0.00
-TN - Tung Oil Finish Back Of Neck (Standard) $0.00
-SBH - SB-Style Headstock (Standard) $0.00
BPH - Black Painted Headstock $30.00
-EB - Ebony Fingerboard (Standard) $0.00
-DI - Dot Inlays (Standard) $0.00
-FR - Med-Jumbo Frets .048" H .103" W (Standard) $0.00
-R12 - 12in Fretboard Radius (Standard) $0.00
-J9A - J99A Alnico Single Coil Pickups (Standard) $0.00
-BLK - Black Pickups $0.00
BC - Black Hardware $30.00
-4011 - Nickel Roundwound .040 .060 .080 .100 $0.00
BL - Black Logo $0.00
HC8W - Black Tolex Wide Hardshell Bass Case $69.00
Custom Shop Total: $978.00

Let's say $725 $650!! shipped in the original case.
Sorry, but US only, no exceptions!

Trades that I would possibly be interested in would be an active Warwick 5 string or an early 80s G&L L1000 (L1K, wunkay). I might consider the right L-2500, a fretless of some sort or even other active basses too. Maybe it's a stretch, but I can't put any cash up so a sale is preferred.

I can take more pictures if there is anything specific you'd like to see.

Sorry for all of the dust, but I really did clean it before taking pics!

Bump for a great seller. Still loving that Bronco, Remy. Hope this one sells soon.
This guy takes great care of his gear. If you want it, don't hesitate.

Hey Funky! Thanks for the compliment and glad you're still enjoying the Bronco! I'm still enjoying the Pandora too. It ended up being perfect for what I use it for and its a lot of fun!

For anyone out there on the fence about this one, it is honestly the closest I've got to actually liking a jazz-style bass, so I know that someone out there will really enjoy it. The neck is very comfortable and it looks awesome.

I may have missed it but why is the headstock logoless? Replacement neck?

The logo is there and I can see it in the solo headstock pic on my monitor if I look really close. It is certainly subtle though. The person who originally ordered this chose the black headstock along with black logo so they blend together well.

Great looking bass. Similar to the specs I'd choose if I'd built it.

Thanks again cappi. It really is a nice looking bass but still not for me.

Had a couple nibbles earlier today, but nothing solid so it's still available.

yeah....I keep coming back to it and trying to figure out a way. I could just swap a nice black pg and throw on some black beauties for a killer carvin.
