FS Pedulla Thunderbolt 4 String - Cherry Red **PRICE DROP** $900 Shipped

For Sale: Pedulla Thunderbolt 4 string - Cherry Red
*** PRICE DROP ***
$900 Shipped CONUS

1993 Model, Serial number T-4351
Dunlop Straplocks
Aguilar OP-2 preamp installed, with active/passive bypass switch
Original Pedulla preamp with Vol-Pan-Tone and Thunderguts circuit and switch included.
Pedulla case and truss rod tool included.
Weight: 8.5lbs

For sale is my 1993 cherry red Pedulla Thunderbolt 4 string bass. It is finished in a translucent cherry red with nicely grained maple with some figuring in the gain, especially on the front. The bass plays great, and has wonderful ergonomics. I need to sell this and my upright Juzek bass to finance a new Upton Bostonian bass I have commissioned.

I have had it for a year. I thought the original Vol-Pan-Tone preamp was lacking, and I really like an active/passive bypass. Thus, I bought an Aguilar OP-2 preamp (Vol-Pan-stacked Bass/Treble) with an active/passive bypass switch prewired from Best Bass Gear, and pulled the original preamp and Thunderguts circuit out. It was very easy to do, and would be very easy to switch back to the original preamp if you want. IMO, it now has much more clarity and range of tone options with the OP-2. The original circuits and toggle switch are included, as is a very nice circuit diagram that I downloaded from the Pedulla Club Talkbass site when I installed the OP-2. It has fairly new, hardly used Pedulla strings on it now.

Pardon the camera flash glare and fingerprints on some of these pics...it will be nicely polished before shipping.

This bass has some wear on it, all of which was present when I bought it last year, with NO new nicks or scratches since. There is some superficial buckle rash on the back, and what looks like superficial pick or finger wear on the front. There are numerous tiny nicks along the bottom, and sides that I have tried hard to show on the pics. Some of the "blemishes" in the pics are actually photo flash glare, and some of the more circular ones are actually some woodgrain "birdseye" like grain variations, but I think you can see the dings on the pics. With the glare, etc, makes the dings actually look more numerous and worse than in person, but I'd rather have you be pleasantly surprised when you receive it, rather than disappointed.

There's a couple tiny dings on the tip of the headstock

I tried to show the buckle rash, but couldn't get it to come through on the pic below.

Bass has been kept in a humidity-controlled room, in a smoke free house.

I owned this bass many years ago and remember it as a very nice one. The weight, balance, and neck feel were really great.

I also owned this bass! For about a year, probably 2008-2009.

I was OK with the simple tone knob but never really liked the ThunderGuts circuit. I drew out the attached circuit...the Pedulla folks said they don't have any circuit info from that far back.

It plays beautifully.

I think you're right - I think you did the circuit diagram. Nice job, was super easy to swap out the circuit. I also have the photo that you took of the circuity in the bass, with all the modules numbered to correlate with the circuit diagram. Of course this also will go along with the bass and the old preamp circuits.

I agree, I didn't really care for the Thunderguts circuit, but the the OP-2, you can really dial in the tone. Bass is super-comfortable, easy to play, and balanced (no neck dive).

No trades please, I need cash to pay for my new upright.

Note: The Thunderbolt currently listed on Ebay for $1235 shipped is not mine. It looks just like mine, but that is not my listing.

That bass has the old Pedulla preamp with V-P-T knobs, and the Vol pot needs replacement, and does not have the Aguilar OP-2 preamp like mine.

Here are some pics of the Pedulla case. In solid shape with some light wear, that I tried to capture in the pics.

Bump

I know we're in a long recession, but I can't go any lower on the price. I'd rather sell it here than on EvilBay.

Sounds great with slap, especially with the new OP-2 preamp. I don't have any recordings. Don't really have equipment to do that. I could try recording something with my iPhone.
