FS Phillips Bulldog 5 USA made Foderaesque

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is a very interesting and potent instrument. This particular bass, as I am told, is the hand-made prototype of the Bulldog 5. Its the bass featured on Kraig Phillips' site. This particular one is ash/ maple, 3 piece neck, has the natural headstock with the pearl logo and is a 34" scale. the nut looks 1 13/16 and the spacing appears to be just shy of 17mm. The neck profile is very compfy. not very thin or thick. really medium. It also has a brass nut. This bass in excellent condition (couldnt find any flaws) and has alot of interesting things going on. Its got a Fodera vibe with a set neck . It give it one of the best "b" strings Ive ever heard. The pups and 2 band pre are "no name" but actually sound VERY good. Big thick and solid, without being boomy. They sound like a Bart setup to me. Its really just not getting any play time. The spacing is a little tight for my big mitts. It balances very well, and the action is low. Its really an incredible bargin for the build quality which looks like a $3000 bass. Kudos to Kraig. no case, but will be packed well. priced to sell. $445 shipped conus only

From what I was told...this was his prototype, made by him. Hence the 34" scale and natural headstock. at $495 shipped , its priced less than a Korean! so it doesnt much matter. I will try to contact him to get the whole story..

A Phillips has been on my wishlist for a while. If you're interested in any kind of trade deal, I've got a Lodestone Primal Artist 4 string Jazz available. Please take a look at it before declining. This is a gem, much like your Bulldog bass!:

The Lodstone is pretty badass lookin. Im really just loaded up with gear and my wallets empty, so I will have to pass...
but with the Phillips...
When whomever buys this and gets it, they will be VERY impressed and the solid feel and build quality. It plays , feels and sounds like a $3000 + bass.

Bump for a great TB'er to deal with. I've bought a couple of basses from Robert and his basses are usually nicer than his description.
Great looking bass here and great guy to deal with.

Good luck on your sale!

That's a great looking bass, and I'm sure it's a great deal. but it looks more like an F Bass to me.
