FS: Pink/Fuschia Fender Power Jazz Special

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking to sell a made in Japan pinkish/fuschia Fender Power Jazz Special. I have two of these in nearly identical colors. Serial is E971402, which dates it to around 84-87 Fuji-gen plant. It is in nice shape for its age. The hardware is clean with hardly any wear. I think the previous owner used flats most of the time because the frets are in great shape. The body is very good overall. The biggest areas of concern are some degree of buckle rash on the back, and a paint chip around the bottom side of the neck pocket. It plays very well and is all original. All of the knobs are complete, and as you can see it has the high mass bridge that a few of these were made with.
I'd like to get $425 shipped CONUS for it. As far as trades, I would consider a 5 string jazz of comparable value, or perhaps a Power Jazz Special in another color

Price drop

$450 shipped CONUS, probably not going any lower than that. I love the bass, but don't care to have two of the exact same color. If it doesn't sell soon, I will probably refinish it and keep it

Tempted to buy this out of curiosity. Never played a Power Jazz Special. So it has active electronics and a P and J pickup. Any other features? I assume the big switch is a pickup selector, correct? What is the little switch, active/passive?

They have fantastic tone. Some of the best tone I have ever heard on any kind of Fender bass
The large switch is pickups, the small one is three position and includes passive.
Check out this thread for a great diagram done by another member:

Oh yeah, that's a Spear Flextool I repainted white. It also has Basslines pickups, including quarter pounder P and J, plus a Basslines Blackouts stacked bass treble pot, and a Babicz bridge.
If you want it, make an offer

the spear and the pinkie would get you a little over halfway to a Rickenbacker.
