FS or Poss Trade: Fender Aerodyne AJB Jazz - Non-import Dolphin Gray

Sign in to disble this ad
*******Price Drop to $400 plus actual shipping*******

Putting up my Fender Aerodyne Jazz. This is the non-import version. There are very few around. I only found one or two on the TB classifieds.

It's a player and has been road worn by the previous owner. But it's still in great playing condition and sounds great. I recently picked up a Carvin SB4000 and haven't touched this. I do really like this bass, but I have been thinking about picking up a 5 string. I've been on the fence about offering this up, this would leave me fenderless for the first time in years. But if I can grab the bass I want I will live.

The bad:
- It has several dings including one in the back that go to the wood
- the bridge has oxidation - no impact to tone but needs to be cleaned up. (I have another bridge that I will include but it's smoke)
- frets and board could use a good cleaning

The good:
- dings are mostly on the side and back
- still a great player
- light (like 8.5-9lbs)
- schaller strap locks
- great tone and versatility
- great neck
- truss and all electronics are great
- no dead spots on the fb
- will include the black beauties on it and a set or rotos or fender ultrabass strings

The specs:

BODY: BASSWOOD (BOUND BODY)
NECK: MAPLE OVAL TYPE and 432mmSCALE (the length from nut to number 12 fret)
FRETBOARD: ROSEWOOD, 184R and 20F
NUT WIDTH: 38mm
PICKUPS: PB-SINGLE x 1, J B SINGLE x 1
CONTROLS & SWITCH: 2VOL and 1TONE
BRIDGE: TP-AJB SPECIAL

------------------------

I'm primarily interested in selling. I've got my eye on a nice Warwick 5 string that I've really wanted to grab.

Price is $400 plus shipping . I know it's got some nasty wear, but the price is less than half of getting a new one which seemed fair. I'll keep it for less.

I know the economy stinks. I tried to resist the GAS pains but the bass I want has been sitting here for a while. So, I will entertain trades for 5 strings - Fenders Carvin, Ibanez Schecter, etc

some ideas:

- Warwick Corvette 5 in Nirvana Black
- Fender Jazz 24 V in Satin Black
- Fender Jazz V (newer model MIM 09+ - love a MIA but no cash)
- Ibanez SR885
- Ibanez SRT905
- Ibanez BTB5xxx
- Carvin B50
- Carvin SB5000
- LTD Phoenix 1004 (yeah its a 4 but want to try one)
- Fender Roadworn or 60s Jazz (yeah another 4 but great bass)

This is the worst of it. Shots of the back and side where the dings are. I know the finish is brittle on all Aerodynes. The body is still solid. I don't know what the other guy did to it, but it was 'on tour'. I've babied it since I've had it.

I always thought it gave me more credibility since I haven't gigged out before

I can take more pics.

The non-import ones come in a number of colors, they are just not sold in the US. The only place I've seen them new on eBay but I think you can find the retail shops in Japan.

Cool bass!
So you did score that Carvin. Does she play as sweet as she looks?

Yeah, the SB4000 is great. I love the tone, look and feel. It has to be the best playing bass I've had yet. Fit and finish are great. Great balance and love the tung oil neck. Not as slick and smooth as the Aerodyne. I think I just prefer the JJ configuration. I always seem to have issues with a P.

Although I do like the pup placement in the Aerodyne. The bridge J is in the 60s position (I think) and farther from the bridge. The P is in the sweet spot. The Aerodyne is really a nice bass and I won't be sorry to keep. There are just a few things out there now that I want more. Really want to grab a Warwick Corvette JJ

Another Jazz bass?
You should look into an ATK with a jazz pickup at the neck haha.
Good luck I've always wanted to check one of these Aero's out.
If you ever decide you don't like the SB anymore........

Bump for price drop and update. Looking for $400 plus actual shipping for this. No case. I am selling the case separately or may need to include with my Big Block. Will be well packed. I'll keep this for any less.

Woe is me bump....

Sorry for any delays in any response. I will respond to all PMs as soon as possible. My basement flooded again and had to install an emergency sump pit and pump. Need to excavate and put some drains in over the weekend.

No worries...all my gear is high and dry :-)

A lot of interest but still around. I'm very partial to black/gray/dark wood finishes.
