FS: Rare Pre-Gibson Tobias Omega Cut Bass Serial #214

Very early Tobias 4 string bass, I looked a LONG time to find one like this...It is a great bass, am just not playing it since I got a new bass and I am not really a collector so don't like having it sit around. Not sure of the exact wood combo, but if I had to guess would say walnut or mahogany and maybe purpleheart for the laminates in the neck. Looks like an ebony fretboard. Not positive on any of these though....Original hardware has tarnished and the bass has play wear (numerous nicks and dings as you can see in the pictures, you can see them up close, not as much from small distance. The back has the most wear). Bass in a darker brown than what it looks like in the pictures. Originally had EMG pickups in it, I had the period correct Dimarzios added it is passive with V/V/T/T set-up. Original EMGs will come with the bass also, the Dimarzios sound way better. The bass plays and sounds fantastic...although this is a collectible type of bass it really is a great player, I loved gigging with it. Much more of a traditional tone than the modern Tobias basses, but same stellar build quality. Will ship with a nice Access gig bag. Hard to price but lets say $2500 shipped for now....

Thumbs up

Very cool and very rare early basses that almost never come up for sale.

Info not in original post that was asked...generally prefer sale over trades but would consider partial trade of high end effects or a nice cabinet + cash.

That's a lovely bass Adam. It would seem you really do love the JPJ Boogie Bass, eh? Best of luck with this sale!
