USA made fretless Jazz bass. Serial number puts it at a 1999 model. The bass was de-fretted by a NYC luthier (I have the receipt for the work and original frets, which I will include). Includes OHSC, hang tags, some case candy.
Bass is in excellent condition - one small nick in the body above the rear pickup (could not get it to photograph - it is smaller than a pin head, looks like a finish crack only), some swirl marks that polished out, and a little bit of string wear on the fretboard. The bass has had half-rounds on since the fretless conversion, so string wear is really, IMO, minimal. I looked the bass over and found no significant dings or marks, but if you're concerned about these things then PM me because I am not anal about such things and I want to make sure we're clear.
According to the original owner, the pickups are Seymour Duncan Antiquity pups. I bought this bass several years ago and have not gigged with it at all - in fact, it has never left my office and has barely left its case. The case even still has a little of that "new Fender case" smell. Case is in good shape - some marks on the outside, but otherwise in perfect working condition. Other than the pics that I took today, I don't think I have had it out of its case for over a year.
Bass sounds and plays like a dream. Lots of mwah, lots of growl, plays like butter, sounds like you would expect a good fretless jazz to sound. The blue is really striking in person, especially under stage lights. I am not sure what the color name is - it looks like it is possibly Ocean Turquoise, but it's slightly metallic and looks slightly bluer to me.
Getting rid of this because it sees no playing time and I need a 5 string.
Cash price is $750 plus shipping.
As far as trades go, I am only looking for a high end fretted 5 string (plus cash from my end); I am especially inerested in Sadowsky NYC's, F Basses, and Foderas - not really interested in 4 and 6 string basses and I am pretty good for amps right now.
Contact me for more pics and/or info. Anyone local (Seattle area) is more than welcome to stop by and check it out. Thanks! |
